First Light Theatre is a theatre company for young people designed to augment traditional education experiences by providing students with opportunities to learn, experience and perform, helping them to become confident communicators and community contributors.
The focus of First Light Theatre is to engage youth from a wide range of backgrounds by using the catalyst of Drama. Through acting workshops and classes, as well as the production of a full scale theatrical production students build perspective on a variety of topics and issues, while developing better communication skills and a greater commitment to community service.
First Light Theatre uses Drama to engage young people with an experience that will help build skills in leadership, communication, risk-taking, commitment as well as an awareness of the power of cooperative work. Working with students from primary school age to high school, First Light Theatre helps young people develop self-awareness and self-acceptance by combining the challenges of interpersonal relations, group commitment, and personal communications through the discipline of drama and by mounting a full theatrical production.
