Festival of Moving Media logo Festival of Moving Media

The Festival of Moving Media (FOMM), running each fall on the first weekend of November, features films and videos that offer a global perspective and provide a broader viewpoint on day-to-day events than normally covered in the news media. GFOMM’s goal is to serve as a catalyst towards increasing community understanding of the world and its diversity.

In the eighties, the Festival ran for seven consecutive years under the name Guelph International Film Festival, drawing large audiences to its unique mix of international feature films and documentaries. After a 13-year hiatus, in 2003 the festival was revived by the Guelph International Resource Centre (GIRC), a 25-year-old non-profit, non-governmental organization that educates Canadians about global issues as well as their local links.

The Festival changed its name to the Festival of Moving Media in 2007 to acknowledge the expanding role of new media within the programming.

Screenings will take place at several venues around town —  at pubs, churches, galleries, and cinemas. Check out our archived website to see some of last year’s programming and to get an idea of what is to come.

This year’s festival will run November7-10, 2013 and will once again feature a selection of global feature films, documentaries, short videos, visiting directors, panel discussions plus programming for children and teens.
