Programs 2010/2011

Monthly meetings include a program and social time, followed by a business portion. Meetings are held at Guelph Unitarian Fellowship, 122 Harris Street, Guelph (corner of Harris and York Rd) and start at 7.30pm, with the exception of the December and June potluck dinners that start at 6.30pm.

September 8, 2010 / Joint Meeting
Spinning & Weaving as Art Forms

The June challenge: "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" Project will be announced at this meeting. Visual presentation: Convergence 2010 art exhibition slides 1. Eye Dazzlers, 2. Small Expressions.

The theme of this year's weaving program is A YEAR OF INTROSPECTION. Reflect - and be inspired!

October 13 / Weaving
Woven Images
There are many techniques for creating images in your work: tapestry, boundweave, rosepath, Theo-Moorman technique, warp painting, and ikat, to name a few. We hope to line up a guest presenter for this meeting, so just sit back and enjoy.

Do you have photos or even examples of work from earlier eras, or even the very first item you made? Look in old weaving and spinning magazines and come with a description for all to enjoy. Things have changed! Visual presentation: Fashion show, presented decades ago in Aberfoyle by GHS and the Guelph Embroiderers' Guild, and recorded on slides from our library.
