I am a Guelph artist and educator, showing in Toronto, Eden Mills, Fergus, Guelph, Turkey Point. I am a University of Guelph grad, with a background in botany, fine art and education.
I work in a variety of media: pen and ink, watercolour, oils, acrylics, multimedia, sculpture, collage, printmaking.
I am interested in life drawing and the human form; gesture drawings captured my interest while in university. The immediacy of capturing the figure and the energy of the model in quick drawings is challenging. After a life class, I take the work to my studio and work on exagerating the line to create definition, variety and movement. Work is then scanned into the computer and colour is added. Eventually I hope to have my work projected in galleries using computer technology.
Organic shapes and forms, strong lines and vivid colours predominate my work.
Interested in the environment and ecology, my work often times is influenced by pertinent changes in today's global world. Declining populations of bees, frogs, seahorses and species have been subjects in my work.
As part of lifelong learning, I hope to always be open and receptive to new ideas and options.
