The Kiwanis Music Festival of Guelph began in 1981, organized and operated by the Kiwanis Club of Guelph and the Royal City Kiwanis Club. As of 2005, the two clubs amalgamated as the Kiwanis Club of Guelph and continue to operate the Festival, with increasing numbers of volunteers from the community. For two and a half weeks each spring, more than 3,500 young people participate in the Festival. Over $16,000 in awards and scholarships are presented to 150 individuals and groups, as recommended by 12 to 14 professional adjudicators. The Highlights of the Festival Concert and Awards Ceremony is a showcase of some of the best performers in the following disciplines: choirs, bands, strings, brass and woodwinds, voice, harp, guitar, piano and digital piano/keyboard. The concert will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 3:00pm at St. George's Anglican Church on Woolwich St.
