Leslie Miles is an artist, part-time teacher, and art consultant. She is an Honours graduate of Fine Art from the University of Guelph, a graduate of the Ryerson Fashion Design Program and the Advanced Fashion Design Program at St. Martin's School of Art in London, UK. Her professional history includes group and solo art exhibitions, part-time teaching, donor wall commissions, steel and wood sculpture for landscape applications, and most recently production of a line of fashion accessory canvas bags.
The combination of fine and applied arts has carried Leslie along a unique course in her work. Her stretched canvas paintings combine the stained, soft look of printed fabric with hard edged acrylic. Her inspirations are from nature, mainly rural and northern landscapes or elements of landscape. Examples of this are where Leslie has worked images of bur oak leaves or Queen Anne's Lace into large, expressive overall compositions.
