Artist/Singer/Songwriter
I live in a little old house built in 1869 in the rural town of Fergus Ontario. My art studio is in my living room looking out over the Grand River. Every morning I make a cup of hot tea, put on some good music and head out to my deck to see what the river is offering up today. It is a beautiful place to live and paint. A place of inspiration!
I am also a singer/songwriter with three CDs to my credit. I have played many folk festivals and concerts over the past years and my music has been played on CBC radio.
For the past ten years, I have been putting my energies into the art of watercolour. It seems that something magical happens each day as I pick up my brush and begin working with new ideas. I am grateful for this opportunity and hope that this energy is reflected in my work. I have tried many styles of watercolour techniques over the years and at this time I am most excited about the pieces I paint in abstract realism.
I have been teaching watercolour painting and drawing for several years. The challenge of teaching allows me many opportunities to try new techniques. I am a graduate of Sheridan College in the Fine Arts. I am a graduate of Ontario Teachers College and have 18 years teaching experience. I am presently a third year student at OCAD (Ontario College of Art University) in Fine Arts in painting and Drawing.
My latest project is teaching watercolour painting in Mexico. In January 2013 I took 10 enthusiastic painters to the Mayan Riviera for a week of painting outside. I am planning another trip for this November 2013.
Please email me for information on this trip.
