DESCRIPTION:September 16\, 2024 – Get ready for a paw-some day in Downtown Guelph! Following the success of last year’s event\, the 2nd annual Downtown Dog Promenade\, proudly presented by the Downtown Guelph Business Association and Speedy Auto Service Guelph\, will take place on Saturday\, September 21st from 12pm to 4pm. Dogs of all breeds\, sizes\, and their human families are invited to join in the fun. \nThe event is free to attend\, with some activities requiring a small fee. Donations will be collected on-site\, with all proceeds going to Autism Dog Services. \nA variety of activities and exhibits will be available\, including: \n– A costume contest for your stylish pups. \n– Expert advice from local dog groomers and veterinarians. \n– A selfie station complete with fun costumes. \n– Free treats for puppies throughout the day. \nParticipants are encouraged to pick up a “Pawsport” upon arrival at the red check-in tent located in St. George’s Square. Collect stamps from participating downtown businesses for a chance to win exciting gift baskets. \nPresenting partner and Speedy Auto Service Guelph owner Sharon Marostega-Hammond said “Speedy is thrilled to sponsor this dog-friendly community event!  It not only allows us to give back and support a cause as important as Autism Dog Services\, but also strengthens our connection with local families and pet owners. Our business is committed to inclusivity and well-being\, and fostering positive relationships with the community by creating memorable experiences for people and their furry companions”. \n—- \nEvent Guidelines \n– All dogs must be kept on a **6-foot lead**. SUMMARY:Reel Stories – Documentary Filmmaking for Youth
DESCRIPTION:This September\, Ed Video launches a new youth program: Reel Stories – Documentary Filmmaking for Youth\, with the support and funding of the J.P. Bickell Foundation. Reel Stories is designed to empower the next generation of storytellers\, giving them the tools and confidence to share their voice with the world. Two separate groups of youth participants (grade 4-8 and grade 9-12) will meet on alternating weeks from 4-6PM to create two short documentaries. Participants will undergo the filmmaking process\, building skills in scriptwriting\, conducting interviews\, camera operation\, lighting\, audio recording and editing under the instruction of Guelph-based filmmaker\, Steve Miller. \n\n\n\n\nSkills in communication\, critical thinking and collaboration will also be developed throughout the program. At the programs’ end in January\, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their completed documentaries for family\, friends and local community members. Reel Stories is more than just a filmmaking course; it’s an experience that equips youth with skills that extend beyond the world of film. \nRegistration for Reel Stories is now open for youth in grades 4-8 and in grades 9-12. Parents and guardians interested in enrolling their children in this free program are encouraged to email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions or accessibility concerns. Spaces are limited\, so early registration is recommended to secure a spot in this innovative and enriching initiative.

SUMMARY:Guelph Tool Library Skill Share Fair and Grand Reopening
DESCRIPTION:Skill Share Fair and Afterparty \nThe Skill Share Fair and afterparty will take place in Old Quebec Street Shoppes on Saturday\, September 28th in celebration of the grand reopening of the Guelph Tool Library in their new home. The daytime event (11 am to 4 pm) will feature a series of interactive booths where you can try out a series of tools and techniques\, like printmaking\, plantable seed paper\, and so much more. Event attendance is free\, but tickets are required to try out the different activity stations. The afterparty\, taking place from 5:30-8 will feature local eats and treats\, a silent disco\, and a behind the scenes look at the new space. Tickets are required for all afterparty attendees. \nSkill Share Fair Tickets: \nTo participate in the hands-on activities at the Skill Share Fair\, tickets are required. Attendees can purchase as few as 2 tickets\, or enough to try all the activities.  \nAll online ticket purchases must be exchanged for physical tickets or wristbands on the day of the event. \n2/$5 – Try out two activities at the Skill Share Fair. Available with advance purchase or at our ticket booth the day of the event. Tickets are shareable/transferable. \n10 for $20 – Try out ten activities at the Skill Share Fair.
