SUMMARY:8-Week Printmaking Class with UGDSB Continuing Education
DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays\, January 18 – March 8\, 2023 | 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. | $100 \nOtherwise Studios has partnered with the Upper Grand District School Board Centre for Continuing Education to offer a series of classes this winter! \nIn this 8-week series\, participants will learn a variety of printmaking mediums and methods including linoblock\, monotype\, and press-less “kitchen” lithography. Participants will learn the basics of designing\, creating\, and printing their image and will build on their skills to try out different techniques including multi-colour printmaking\, creating editions\, and hybrid printmaking. Historical and contemporary examples and theories will be woven into each class to support participant learning. \nThese classes will take place at the Wellington Centre for Continuing Education. Woodburning\, however\, requires various different techniques to create texture\, lines and tonal values and is a much slower process. \nJoin Pyrography Artist Heather Martin of FireWork Designs to begin or expand your knowledge of woodburning while you create your own usable\, giftable cherry or ambrosia maple charcuterie board. \nHeather will guide you through various woodburning techniques to incorporate texture and interest to your piece. You will also learn about recommended woods and other helpful hints as you work your way through this immersive process. \nIt’s always fun to learn with a friend\, with no experience in drawing or woodburning\, this makes the perfect class to relax and enjoy the afternoon together! No Experience Necessary. \nAll materials provided: 8x10inch Charcuterie Board\, 1oz Board Cream \n  \nAbout the artist: \nHeather Martin of FireWork Designs\, is a practicing Pyrography Artist in Fergus Ontario that has been woodburning for almost a decade. Her passion for creating is shown in her unique woodburned designs completed on a mix of locally sourced woods. The pyrography classes Heather teaches are perfect for beginners or seasoned pyrography students that are ready to bring their art to the next level. \nFrom the lines and patterns naturally in the wood to the slow immersive process of woodburning. Heather is drawn to the extensive depth and texture attainable with the medium that is almost sculptural. Heather completed her Bachelor’s of Arts at University of Toronto and Sheridan Institute in Art and Art History. She specialized in Sculpture\, Print Media and Photography. The accumulation of her interests are quite apparent in her work. Her burnings are available in a variety of forms from wall art & portraits to usable household items like charcuterie boards\, spoons\, ornaments and more. DESCRIPTION:Do you like to doodle? Do you want to try something new? Are you looking for a space for making art? If you answered yes to any of these questions\, we have just the program for you at the Art Gallery of Guelph!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeginning March 22\, we invite teens ages 13 – 19 to come hang out at the art gallery every second Wednesday from 4 – 6 pm (see calendar below for exact dates). This is an open and diverse space for gently guided creativity and gathering with friends\, where no artistic experience is required. AGG’s programming team will lead participants through specialized projects and will be available for support throughout all sessions. Teens are invited bring their own projects or experiment with the materials provided\, and most of all\, to come as you are. Participants will also have the chance to help decide and plan what art projects the group explores together\, including brainstorming a name for this new creative crew. We want to hear from you!

DESCRIPTION:March 25 @ 11:00 am – March 26 @ 3:00 pm \nCAD$250.00\n\n\nOIL & COLD WAX ABSTRACT LANDSCAPES  \n2-DAY WORKSHOP with CAROLYN SHARP \nSATURDAY\, MARCH 25\, 2023  |  11 am – 4 pm \nSUNDAY\, MARCH 26\, 2023  |  11 am – 3 pm \nAGES 16+ | MAX. 8 \n$250 plus hst + $20 kit fee \n*please note there is a minimum of 6 required to run this class. \n\nUnleash your creativity and make your own masterpiece using oil paint and cold wax medium. \nCarolyn will guide you towards creating atmospheric and colourful abstracted land & waterscape paintings on archival oil paper and cradled wood panels. \nYou will also learn ways to find compelling compositions and create colour harmony in your paintings. This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience\, so come explore\, experiment and get those creative juices going! \n  \nMaterials List (students to bring) \n2 Cradled or flat wood panels. Her background in Interior Design provides her with a keen eye for creating colourful and compelling paintings in both acrylic and oil & cold wax. She began studying art in 2003\, and has trained with many highly regarded artists throughout North America.
