SUMMARY:Youth Programs
DESCRIPTION:Do you like to doodle? Do you want to try something new? Are you looking for a space for making art? If you answered yes to any of these questions\, we have just the program for you at the Art Gallery of Guelph!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeginning March 22\, we invite teens ages 13 – 19 to come hang out at the art gallery every second Wednesday from 4 – 6 pm (see calendar below for exact dates). This is an open and diverse space for gently guided creativity and gathering with friends\, where no artistic experience is required. AGG’s programming team will lead participants through specialized projects and will be available for support throughout all sessions. Teens are invited bring their own projects or experiment with the materials provided\, and most of all\, to come as you are. Participants will also have the chance to help decide and plan what art projects the group explores together\, including brainstorming a name for this new creative crew. We want to hear from you!

SUMMARY:Lighting & Grip Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:This workshop covers the fundamental techniques and practices of lighting for film and video. Participants will learn the uses and benefits of a variety of lights as well as how to employ bounces\, diffusion and negative fill when creating a lighting set-up. Scenes and images will be analysed to identify the different lighting approaches and tools used and then recreated for hands-on experience. While this workshop shed light on industry approaches to lighting\, there is a strong emphasis on working with existing lighting and simple tools. \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions\, accessibility needs and to register.

SUMMARY:Lighting & Grip Intensive
DESCRIPTION:This full day intensive workshop is a deep exploration of the artistic and practical expression of lighting. It will cover standard industry lighting practices and will delve into how one can achieve the same quality without the same resources. Participants will learn different approaches to dramatic lighting in both interior and exterior scenarios and will have the opportunity to create multiple lighting set-ups and experiment with common lighting and grip tools. Participants will learn to analyse scenes and stills to break down the creative lighting choices made to create them: Where are the lights in this scene? What kind of tools were used?  How does the lighting change as the camera goes  from the wide shot to the close-up? \nTopics include: \n\nUpstage lighting\nBouncing light\nNegative fill\nIndustry practices for exterior lighting\nIndustry practice for interior lighting\nWhen and when not to use artificial lighting\nArtistic paths\n\n**The Lighting & Grip Fundamentals workshop is recommended as a prerequisite to this intensive. \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions\, accessibility needs and to register.

We appreciate registration\, though drop-ins are always welcome. \nYouth Programs will resume in the fall with the start of school.
