DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Kimmunity Service \nThis workshop introduces participants to the basics of generating audio reactive forms\, shapes\, colours and patterns with TouchDesigner\, a node based visual programming software used to create interactive multimedia content. Instructed by visual artist and designer\, Kimmunity Service\, participants will learn the software’s interface\, tools and functions as well as how to set up nodes and create a workflow. \nParticipants will need a laptop\, a scroll-wheel mouse and a free download of TouchDesigner. Ed Video has a limited number of laptops available for members to use during the workshop. SUMMARY:Tell Your Story: Intro to Creative Podcasting & Community Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Karim Mosna \nThe most powerful form of communication is storytelling; we as human beings connect through and are moved by each other’s stories. We all crave connection with each other and to be heard. This is a workshop designed to share stories and perspectives through a podcast or interview-style radio program\, and in turn feel a sense of acceptance and community. \nThis introductory evening workshop will introduce participants to the various possibilities of podcast formats including: conversational/interview\, narrative\, documentary/investigative and theatrical/audio drama. Additionally as a group we will dissect the art of conversation and storytelling by listening to\, analysing and discussing examples of great podcasts. There will be fun exercises to build more comfort with speaking and diction\, preparing for and conducting an interview\, storytelling\, writing\, active listening and more. \nParticipants will need access to a laptop with Adobe Audition installed\, as well as a microphone. Ed Video has a limited amount of laptops available for members to use during the workshop. Offering access to spaces that are not usually accessible to the public\, through careful guidance\, see the breadth of the gallery’s collection and the importance of proper artwork maintenance and storage. SUMMARY:Creative Podcasting & Community Storytelling Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Karim Mosna \nLocation: CFRU 93.3FM\, U.C. Level 2\, University of Guelph (50 Stone Road East\, Guelph ON) \nFor those that have ever been fascinated by CBC or NPR broadcasts and podcasts\, this will be a special treat! Participants will have the rare opportunity to spend a full day at local campus/community radio station CFRU 93.3 FM\, and make use of the station’s state-of-the-art recording studios to record and produce a 30 minute podcast episode or multiple mini-episodes. \nThere are so many possibilities; a bare bones solo podcast talking about a topic of interest such as: music or film\, a journalistic-style show interviewing a fellow participant\, more advanced documentary storytelling or an audio experience. The next “This American Life\,” “Revisionist History\,” or “WireTap” could come out of this intensive! \nFacilitator Karim Mosna will be on site throughout the day to provide assistance and guidance through the process of recording and post-production. He will also lead an interactive audio editing seminar. The final episodes will be uploaded to Anchor-Spotify For Podcasters which will then distribute the podcast across multiple podcast sites (including: Spotify\, Apple Podcasts\, Google and more). Participants will also have access to CFRU’s Social Media Lab to snap a cover photo for the podcast and promotional reels for social media. \nParticipants will need to come ready to record with any scripts or interview points. They will also need to have created an account with Spotify For Podcasters\, and bring a USB to take their work home with them. \n**Tell Your Story: Intro to Creative Podcasting & Community Storytelling is recommended as a prerequisite to this intensive. \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions\, accessibility needs and to register.
