SUMMARY:Intro to Screenwriting (Virtual Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Thursday January 18th\, January 25th & February 1st | 7-9pm \nFacilitated by Hope Thompson \nWriting for film requires both a good story and a solid understanding of the craft of screenwriting. During this 3-part introductory online workshop series\, we will explore the basic tools required to unlock your short- or feature-length screenplay ideas. Topics covered include loglines\, premise\, theme\, character\, structure\, dialogue and symbol. Please bring your screenplay ideas to the first class. No experience necessary! \nHope Thompson writes for stage\, film and television and her work explores the queer experience through history and genre. She has had plays produced in Toronto\, Vancouver and Los Angeles and her award-winning short films have screened internationally. She wrote on two seasons of CBC’s Baroness Von Sketch Show and is currently co-writing a series with a broadcaster attached. Hope also teaches screenwriting and co-hosts the crime fiction reading series Queer Toronto Noir. \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions\, accessibility needs and to register.

Join us on Zoom as OAC Acting Media Arts Officer\, Barbara Gilbert\, provides inside knowledge on how to write clear and concise grant applications. This workshop will cover a range of topics including grant types\, grant eligibility\, the grant application process and will also give participants information on how juries are selected\, how grant decisions are made and what to do if you get or do not get a grant.
