Surrounded by the natural beauty of The Arboretum\, this free outdoor event for the whole family invites you to slow down\, breathe\, and experience the harmony between art and nature.  \nFeaturing aerial silks and trapeze performances by Britt Howlett and Erika Lui with live harp and vocal music by Shannon Kingsbury. \nBetween performances\, enjoy free guided walking tours led by Arboretum staff. Her creative work seeks to blend the artistry and physical discipline of circus arts to explore and bring to life ideas\, themes and characters. DESCRIPTION:Art on the Street is co-presented with Downtown Guelph Business Association and features contemporary fine art and craft. The juried event has grown since 2003 to become Guelph’s largest outdoor exhibition and sale. Art on the Street spotlights talent within the regional arts community and offers a fresh-air art experience for Guelph’s residents and visitors. Each year\, established and emerging artists showcase their works to several thousand visitors in temporary\, open-air studios. SUMMARY:Walking as Remapping: A Slow Walk to Nowhere
DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with the exhibition 155\,578\, join us for the first of two experimental walking events led by artist Dawn Matheson\, part of the Walking as Remapping series. A Slow Walk to Nowhere invites participants to gently rebel against the demands of speed\, productivity\, and destination by following internal cues. Grounded in the body and guided by intuition\, this simple creative walk offers a space to reflect on movement as an act of resistance—where the journey\, not the arrival\, becomes the point. Inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s Wanderlust\, Matheson sees walking as a deliberate and embodied act of remapping—subtle\, sensorial\, and deeply human. \nBeginning at the Art Gallery of Guelph\, each participant will receive a brief set of instructions and a loose hypothesis to explore. Then\, in solitude\, walkers or rollers will depart from the gallery using only their senses to guide them (especially their sense of wonder) in any direction for 20 minutes\, listening to their own rhythms and surroundings. They will return to AGG to share observations and reflections in a short group conversation. \nOpen to all. Dress for the weather\, bring a phone or timekeeping device if possible\, and come ready to wander!
