DESCRIPTION:Do you like to doodle? Do you want to try something new? Are you looking for a space for making art? If you answered yes to any of these questions\, we have just the program for you at the Art Gallery of Guelph!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeginning March 22\, we invite teens ages 13 – 19 to come hang out at the art gallery every second Wednesday from 4 – 6 pm (see calendar below for exact dates). This is an open and diverse space for gently guided creativity and gathering with friends\, where no artistic experience is required. AGG’s programming team will lead participants through specialized projects and will be available for support throughout all sessions. Teens are invited bring their own projects or experiment with the materials provided\, and most of all\, to come as you are. Participants will also have the chance to help decide and plan what art projects the group explores together\, including brainstorming a name for this new creative crew. We want to hear from you!

DESCRIPTION:The AGG Volunteer Association is pleased to host eight knowledgeable appraisers to assess and evaluate your prized possessions or unusual finds.  Organized by Bert Dorpmans and Lauren Ogilvie of McMaster Fine Art\, you are invited to bring your treasures and heirlooms to the Art Gallery of Guelph for an Antique Roadshow style event! Get on-the-spot verbal appraisals for jewelry\, art\, Inuit objects\, textile art\, and small furniture from the region’s experts. \nPurchase tickets here > \nTickets are $15 per item\, with each ticket representing ONE item for appraisal. Each person is welcome to bring multiple items in different categories\, with a maximum number three items per category (see list below). For example\, 5 five tickets for a total of $75 to bring 5 items (such as 3 textiles\, 1 small stool\, 1 necklace); purchasing 5 tickets for items in one category alone is not permitted. \n\nCategories: \n1. SUMMARY:Lighting & Grip Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:This workshop covers the fundamental techniques and practices of lighting for film and video. Participants will learn the uses and benefits of a variety of lights as well as how to employ bounces\, diffusion and negative fill when creating a lighting set-up. Scenes and images will be analysed to identify the different lighting approaches and tools used and then recreated for hands-on experience. DESCRIPTION:It features more than 30 professional artists who showcase their visual\, literary and performing arts talents by injecting colour\, music\, performance and life into the city. Part of the festival is an awards ceremony that includes a Juror’s Choice Award and the public will have a chance to vote for their favourite artist in the category of People’s Choice. New this year will be the Cambridge 50th Award for the artist that best reflects this milestone in their work. Come hungry! Food trucks and restaurants will be on-site. The event is also licensed.

SUMMARY:Lighting & Grip Intensive
DESCRIPTION:This full day intensive workshop is a deep exploration of the artistic and practical expression of lighting. It will cover standard industry lighting practices and will delve into how one can achieve the same quality without the same resources. Participants will learn different approaches to dramatic lighting in both interior and exterior scenarios and will have the opportunity to create multiple lighting set-ups and experiment with common lighting and grip tools. Participants will learn to analyse scenes and stills to break down the creative lighting choices made to create them: Where are the lights in this scene? What kind of tools were used?  How does the lighting change as the camera goes  from the wide shot to the close-up? \nTopics include: \n\nUpstage lighting\nBouncing light\nNegative fill\nIndustry practices for exterior lighting\nIndustry practice for interior lighting\nWhen and when not to use artificial lighting\nArtistic paths\n\n**The Lighting & Grip Fundamentals workshop is recommended as a prerequisite to this intensive. \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions\, accessibility needs and to register.
