SUMMARY:Lighting & Grip Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:Learn the fundamental techniques and practices of lighting for film and video. \nFacilitated by José Garcia-Lozano \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, participants will learn the uses and benefits of a variety of lights as well as how to employ bounces\, diffusion and negative fill when creating a lighting set-up. Scenes and images will be analysed to identify the different lighting approaches and tools used and then recreated for hands-on experience. While this workshop sheds light on industry approaches to lighting\, there is a strong emphasis on working with existing lighting and simple tools.

DESCRIPTION:Calling all young makers and the young-at-heart! This Family Day\, join us at the Art Gallery of Guelph for a fun-filled afternoon of creativity. Visit our current exhibitions Ron Shuebrook & Frances Thomas: In Conversation\, Queer Print Project: Body Language\, Prism International Printmaking\, and Kananginak Pootoogook: Printing the Inuit World)\, explore the sculpture park\, and make some amazing art. \n​Activities and workshops will include sculpture park and exhibition scavenger hunts\, foam block printing\, abstract paint scraping\, and Maud Lewis house painting! \nThese workshops are designed for creatives aged 4 to 17 with their caregiver(s)\, though all ages are welcome. Those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nFREE; all materials are provided; no experience is required. Come dressed for mess!

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to uncover stories worth telling in this workshop. \nFacilitated by Dawn Matheson \nThis interactive workshop is all about the idea! You can’t get anywhere in filmmaking without somewhere to start\, and so often\, this is where people get stuck. \nYou’re eager to tell stories\, yet unsure what stories are yours to tell\, convinced your experiences aren’t interesting enough\, or tempted to borrow someone else’s narrative. Everyone has stories worth sharing. The key is learning how to uncover them. \nIn this 2-hour interactive session\, participants will uncover ideas rooted in personal interests and lived experiences\, explore the narratives that matter most to them\, and be encouraged to develop the authentic connections needed to build the relationships and context that help tell those stories with integrity. \n** Participants should come ready with at least one or two story ideas you are interested in telling. ** \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org for any questions or accessibility concerns.

SUMMARY:The Image Makers
DESCRIPTION:The Image Makers is a free monthly gathering of video and cinema makers who are dedicated to the craft of moving imagery\, with a particular focus on lighting design. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this month’s session\, we will be using Ed Video’s equipment to experiment with Timecode\, and then importing it into DaVinci Resolve. Timecode allows you to easily sync up recorded audio with your video at post production. \nCome join a meeting of video and cinema makers who are dedicated to the craft of moving imagery. While no formal instruction is provided\, this session is a great chance to meet new collaborators\, try new techniques\, push one another to new levels\, and keep skills fresh.
