DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Chris Fast \nThis introductory workshop will teach the building blocks of 3D modelling. Participants will learn the basics of selecting and manipulating vertices\, edges\, and faces\, and will use these fundamental tools to build 4 different models of varied complexity. Participants will also be introduced to and familiarised with the subdivision surface modifier which is a common tool in 3D modelling. While this workshop will be instructed using Blender\, the principles can be applied to any 3D software. \nParticipants will need a laptop\, a scroll-wheel mouse and a free download of Blender. Ed Video has a limited amount of laptops available for members to use during the workshop. DESCRIPTION:The Guelph Book Bash Festival is an annual celebration of the books published by Guelph and area authors over the previous year. The event is presented by Vocamus Writers Community.\n\nThis year\, it will be held on Sunday November 5\, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM\, at the Guelph Farmers’ Market.\n\nOver thirty authors will be in attendance to sell their books\, chat with attendees\, and sign copies. The authors will be joined by many of Guelph’s micro-presses\, bookstores\, libraries\, cultural groups\, and literacy organizations\, all the people who help make up our great local book culture.\n\nThere will also be storytelling and free books for children\, a leave-a-book-take-a-book table\, a book composting demonstration\, food and refreshments for sale\, book prizes\, and other fun!\n\nThere is no cost for the event\, but donations will be accepted for Action Read\, Friends of Vocamus Writers Community’s charitable partner\, which provides literacy programs in the community.

SUMMARY:Creative Podcasting & Community Storytelling Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Karim Mosna \nLocation: CFRU 93.3FM\, U.C. Level 2\, University of Guelph (50 Stone Road East\, Guelph ON) \nFor those that have ever been fascinated by CBC or NPR broadcasts and podcasts\, this will be a special treat! Participants will have the rare opportunity to spend a full day at local campus/community radio station CFRU 93.3 FM\, and make use of the station’s state-of-the-art recording studios to record and produce a 30 minute podcast episode or multiple mini-episodes. \nThere are so many possibilities; a bare bones solo podcast talking about a topic of interest such as: music or film\, a journalistic-style show interviewing a fellow participant\, more advanced documentary storytelling or an audio experience. The next “This American Life\,” “Revisionist History\,” or “WireTap” could come out of this intensive! \nFacilitator Karim Mosna will be on site throughout the day to provide assistance and guidance through the process of recording and post-production. He will also lead an interactive audio editing seminar. The final episodes will be uploaded to Anchor-Spotify For Podcasters which will then distribute the podcast across multiple podcast sites (including: Spotify\, Apple Podcasts\, Google and more). Participants will also have access to CFRU’s Social Media Lab to snap a cover photo for the podcast and promotional reels for social media. \nParticipants will need to come ready to record with any scripts or interview points. They will also need to have created an account with Spotify For Podcasters\, and bring a USB to take their work home with them. \n**Tell Your Story: Intro to Creative Podcasting & Community Storytelling is recommended as a prerequisite to this intensive. \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions\, accessibility needs and to register.

DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Karim Mosna \nThe most powerful form of communication is storytelling; we as human beings connect through and are moved by each other’s stories. We all crave connection with each other and to be heard. This is a workshop designed to share stories and perspectives through a podcast or interview-style radio program\, and in turn feel a sense of acceptance and community. \nThis introductory evening workshop will introduce participants to the various possibilities of podcast formats including: conversational/interview\, narrative\, documentary/investigative and theatrical/audio drama. Additionally as a group we will dissect the art of conversation and storytelling by listening to\, analysing and discussing examples of great podcasts. Consider beautiful words made ugly and ugly words made beautiful. \nThe aim of this activity is to offer a safe place and space for participants\, plus a little time\, to share something that a simple three word sentence can say\, empowering community to redefine a public space as a creative-led conversation forum. \nConversation not only conveys and sparks ideas but also enthusiasm and passion. Everyone’s experiences\, expertise\, and opinions are unique. Sharing them with others can foster a creative environment. DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Mary-Lynn Jones \nThis workshop is designed for beginners who want to explore graphic design using Adobe Illustrator. Participants will learn the principles of graphic design\, such as composition\, typography\, color theory\, and layout. They will also discover how to apply these principles in Adobe Illustrator to create visually appealing designs. Through hands-on exercises and projects\, attendees will gain practical skills and knowledge that they can apply to their own design projects. \nMary-Lynn Jones is a talented\, highly motivated\, creative\, and versatile graphic designer and illustrator. With expertise in social media\, animation\, and motion interactive videos\, she brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to her work. With over two years of experience as a creative UI designer\, Mary-Lynn has a keen understanding of incorporating client preferences into superior design solutions. \nParticipants will need a laptop with Adobe Illustrator. Ed Video has a limited amount of laptops available for members to use during the workshop.
