DESCRIPTION:Do you like to doodle? Do you want to try something new? Are you looking for a space for making art? If you answered yes to any of these questions\, we have just the program for you at the Art Gallery of Guelph!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeginning March 22\, we invite teens ages 13 – 19 to come hang out at the art gallery every second Wednesday from 4 – 6 pm (see calendar below for exact dates). This is an open and diverse space for gently guided creativity and gathering with friends\, where no artistic experience is required. AGG’s programming team will lead participants through specialized projects and will be available for support throughout all sessions. Teens are invited bring their own projects or experiment with the materials provided\, and most of all\, to come as you are. Participants will also have the chance to help decide and plan what art projects the group explores together\, including brainstorming a name for this new creative crew. We want to hear from you!

DESCRIPTION:Are you curious about Carmen Mattear\, our Hard and Soft: Ed Video Artist in Resident? Do you want to know what she’s been up to and learn more about her artistic practice? Join us Sunday\, March 26th at Ed Video (404 York Road) at 3:30pm for an artist talk by Carmen! \nCarmen Mattear (born 2000) is a multidisciplinary artist who collects media as data and finds patterns through method\, and are then translated and expressed as sound installation\, sculpture\, video\, and VR. Her practice is informed by cinema\, music\, television\, and family relations. For Mattear\, art is about creating organized chaos\, in which anecdotes emerge\, revealing our positive humanism. Mattear currently lives in Guelph\, ON and holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours\, with Distinction\, in Studio Art from the University of Guelph\, where she also completed a minor in Psychology. \nThis internship opportunity is presented as part of the “Digital Skills for Youth” program coordinated by the Independent Media Arts Alliance and funded by the Department of Innovation\, Science and Economic Development Canada.

SUMMARY:Dopamine Dance Against PD - Parkinson’s Can’t Stop Me From Dancing!
DESCRIPTION:When Barbara Salsberg Mathews tweeted a video of herself dancing on February 25\, 2023\,\nshe didn’t expect to receive such an amazing response. Within just a few short days\, her tweet\n“Parkinson’s Disease can’t stop me from dancing” had received over 15\,000 views. \nEven more amazingly\, many other people living with Parkinson’s began replying by posting\nvideos of themselves dancing. What started as an optimistic and defiant tweet against PD had\nbecome a mini-internet sensation. This gave Barbara an idea. Together\, with founding PD\nAvenger member\, Richelle Flanagan\, Dopamine dance against PD was born. \nTo raise awareness about Parkinson’s and World Parkinson’s Day you’re invited to participate\nonline. We’re asking everyone to boost their dopamine and dance against Parkinson’s for the\nweek leading into World Parkinson’s Day on April 11. Help raise awareness of the fastest\ngrowing neurological condition affecting 10 million people\, 40% of whom are women and 30%\nunder the age of 60. Help break the stigma of Parkinson’s and take a video of yourself busting\nout your greatest dance moves and post them on social media starting on April 3 until World\nParkinson’s day on April 11. \nDance is a powerful form of self-expression and has been linked to benefits for people living\nwith Parkinson’s disease. DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Chris Fast \n  \nThis beginner-friendly workshop teaches participants how to create 3D scenes in Blender using free optimized photo scans found on Sketchfab. Participants will learn basic viewport navigation\, how to use Blender’s asset browser as well as its object and camera manipulation functions. No previous experience with 3D or digital art is required.  \n  \nParticipants will need a laptop\, a scroll-wheel mouse and a free download of Blender. He has won numerous awards both nationally and internationally for creative excellence. DESCRIPTION:Do you like to doodle? Do you want to try something new? Are you looking for a space for making art? If you answered yes to any of these questions\, we have just the program for you at the Art Gallery of Guelph!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeginning March 22\, we invite teens ages 13 – 19 to come hang out at the art gallery every second Wednesday from 4 – 6 pm (see calendar below for exact dates). This is an open and diverse space for gently guided creativity and gathering with friends\, where no artistic experience is required. AGG’s programming team will lead participants through specialized projects and will be available for support throughout all sessions. Teens are invited to bring their own projects or experiment with the materials provided\, and most of all\, to come as you are. Participants will also have the chance to help decide and plan what art projects the group explores together\, including brainstorming a name for this new creative crew. We want to hear from you! \nDuring the month of June\, we will host our two final Youth Programs for this school year! On June 14\, join us for collage and zine making; on June 28\, join us for an art party and collaborative life drawing to celebrate the end of the school year! Campers’ works will be screened for parents and guardians on the final day of camp! \nCampers are free to bring their own laptop to camp or they can rent a laptop for the week for an additional $20. *Laptops are limited and will be rented on a first come\, first served basis. \nLimited enrollment.
