DESCRIPTION:Who wears the pants? Why Joshua Pascua of course! We are thrilled to welcome Joshua Pascua & the Pants to the Civic Museum for July’s Fourth Friday performance. Enjoy their funky rhythms and smooth melodies as you groove the night away on the Civic Museum patio. \nEvery Fourth Friday of the month enjoy free admission to the Civic Museum from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.\, and a free concert starting at 7 p.m. \nThe concert will also be streamed on our Facebook Page\, and available for a limited time afterwards on our YouTube channel and Museum Everywhere portal. This event takes place on the Civic Museum patio\, weather permitting\, please dress accordingly. \nDue to high demand for seating\, please arrive at the Museum and take your seat by 6:50 pm. Seats not claimed by this time may be re-assigned to rush line visitors.\n \nPlease let us know in advance if you can no longer attend so we can release the ticket to others wishing to attend. \nCash bar. \n\nAbout the Artist: \nJoshua Pascua & the Pants are a group of talented and ambitious musicians from Southern Ontario. After studying together in college\, the four piece came together to create a high energy and funk-based band that showcases their love of music. Although the band started as a funk group\, they are well-versed in playing many other genres\, such as: RnB\, soul\, pop\, jazz\, and blues. As the band leader\, Joshua Pascua is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. He is backed by Kevin Mak on the keys\, Tommy-Lee Metcalfe on the drums\, and Cameron Watson on bass. \nThe group comes together to demonstrate exciting stage presence and musicianship to deliver a fun and unforgettable performance every time. Joshua Pascua & the Pants have been playing together for almost four years\, performing at various shows around Toronto and the surrounding regions. The most recent event the band performed was at the T.U. Jazz Festival in 2021\, showcasing their proficiency in jazz\, and their capability to fuse jazz with neighbouring genres and original songs. Joshua Pascua & the Pants hope to continue to create unforgettable memories and lively experiences for their audience.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a full weekend of music\, arts\, food and culture! Riverfest Elora 2022 is Friday\, August 19\, Saturday\, August 20 and Sunday\, August 21 in Bissell Park.\nThe festival\, held along the banks of the Grand River\, has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a backyard festival in 2009. \nAfter a pandemic hiatus\, we are incredibly stoked to get back to Bissell for festival number 12 in 2022. Get ready for three days of art\, food trucks\, arts and craft vendors\, community and of course\, music! \nWeekend passes\, single day tickets\, after party passes and overflow camping passes are available here. \nWe would like to express our thanks to the Six Nations Community and acknowledge them as the traditional stewards and keepers of the land upon which our event is held. \nOver the years\, Riverfest Elora has brought an impressive array of musicians to the small town. Koop passed away in 2012 and the festival continues in her memory. She is a singer/songwriter and inspirational speaker. Lacey went solo launching her debut album titled 528\, independently in 2013\, which put her in the music scene and opened up the stage to perform her original songs. \nIn 2017 her sophomore album M (528 Volume II) has taken Lacey across Canada and onto international stages. In 2018-19 Lacey traveled to New Zealand\, Australia and the UK\, stage managing and providing original compositions for Tara Beagans’ theatre production Deer Woman. In 2020 COVID hit\, so Lacey released and premiered “The Shiner” as a single for APTN’s Amplify series\, was one of Rogers TV Highlight artists and performed a lot of online gigs! SUMMARY:Culture Days: Reshaping Ruins presented by Guelph’s Artists in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Experience the Goldie Mill Ruins brought to life through light\, art\, and sound! Reshaping Ruins is an interactive art project that nurtures the community’s connection between the historic past and vibrant present of Goldie Mill Ruins. The project will reanimate Goldie Mill by bringing community-made visual art\, poetry\, and music into the space. \nThe project began with a call for poetry\, with the winning submission by Jeremy Luke-Hill being used as the text for a choral composition\, based on the creative prompt “How does it feel to experience an old space in a new light?” Local singers of all experience levels were invited to an interactive workshop where they learned\, performed\, and recorded the choir piece. The choral recordings were then manipulated into a more abstract\, ambient track to be played during the exhibition to inspire the visual art component. \nThe culminating exhibition will feature collaborative painting projections\, light\, and sound. The projection will consist of abstract and gestural painting\, paired with video footage of life in Guelph. The collaborative painting will mix with the music\, and animate the sounds flowing through the space\, while the videos will highlight the movements of people and nature in Guelph bringing the motion of life into the ruins. The works will be projected in real-time as the audience interacts with the space\, casting shadows onto the old building and bringing it to life with movement. \nThis project is created by Guelph’s 2022 Artists in Residence – Sophia Chilton\, Caleb Bray\, and Silas Chinsen.

Rene works to fuse Ojibwe and English words into his stories\, poetry and spoken word performances\, Rene communicates his Ojibwe spiritual heritage to the contemporary world. He was born in the railway town of Nakina in Northwestern Ontario and was raised by his Okomissan grandmother. His education includes: Anishinaabe oral tradition\, language\, arts and culture. \nRene has a diploma in Graphic Design from Sheridan College and a certificate in Creative Writing from the Humber School for Writers. Rene’s body of artwork\, stories and his flute improvisations create a strong\, expressive\, and entertaining presentation for an ever-increasing audience. He also has an active on-line and performing presence as a Funky-Elder and his ‘virtual’ band\, The Firebolt Ensemble.

CBC Radio’s Brave New Waves played her cassette demos on-air in the 1980s. Transstar signed a publishing deal with EMI Canada in 1991 and released an ambient electronic CD\, Score For Life in 1997. In 2014\, Transstar relocated in Berlin to create the Cover Girl project. In 2015 Transstar launched Blackball\, a non-profit organization that teaches electronic music to prison inmates and young people in underserved communities. \nTransstar collaborates with Pros and Cons\, a song mentorship program for incarcerated individuals created by Hugh Christopher Brown\, Transstar established a dedicated music production space at Grand Valley Institution For Women and produced two albums recorded inside the institution\, Undisclosed Location and its follow-up\, Private Town. Transstar has appeared at The Golden Bus\, Holy Smokes Fest\, the Queeries Music + Arts Festival\, Girls’ Rock Camp\, the Wolfe Island Garden Party and Waterloo Creates. Transstar’s Toronto pre-pandemic debut took place at Lee’s Palace on March 7\, 2020\, opening for Chalk Circle at the Rethink Breast Cancer benefit. \nTransstar’s EP Famous Door was mixed by Michael Phillip Wojewoda for Park Music. Famous Door enjoyed its national debut on CBC Radio q in January of 2020 and is available on all aggregators. Transstar’s alter ago\, mild-mannered Aimee Copping\, is taking her Master’s degree in Critical Studies In Improvisation at the University of Guelph.
