SUMMARY:Bal Folk Music and Dance Workshops Jan-March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Music Workshop 5:30-6:30 – Come learn repertoire for Bal Folk dances! Fun tunes taught by ear\, ideal for melody based instruments (Fiddle\, accordion\, mandolin\, flute\, etc.). You are welcome to stay for the dance workshop and either learn the dances or play the tunes you just learned for the dancers. \nDance Workshop 6:30-7:30 – Come learn traditional dances and dances common at Bal Folk events. Non-gendered dance roles\, no partner or experience necessary. SUMMARY:Trial Runners Xtra (feat. We Quit Theatre)
DESCRIPTION:Calling all visceral clowns\, earnest wailers\, sound sculptors\, body poets\, etc.! TRIAL RUNNERS is an experimental open mic— a low-pressure event for folks who make performances/videos/sounds to try stuff out in front of an audience. If you are interested in signing up to perform please email Trial Runners‘ host\, Megan Arnold\, at trialrunnersguelph@gmail.com. All are welcome to attend the event as audience members. \nAfter the live performance portion (8:30-10:30pm)\, there will be an “xtra” special live-streamed broadcast of Men Explain Things to Us… And We Like It! by We Quit Theatre\, an artist-duo based in Winnipeg\, Manitoba. \nIn the broadcast\, two impulsive\, unpredictable\, extravagantly gendered late-night talkshow hosts — Dasha Plett and Gislina Patterson — invite real life men into a cardboard and construction paper television studio to talk about their passions\, fears\, and what it’s like to be a man. Streamed live from Winnipeg\, Men Explain Things to Us… And We Like It! uses the space between reality and performance to transgress and re-write the unwritten rules and social etiquette of gender relations. Men Explain… is presented with support from send+receive\, Winnipeg Film Group\, Manitoba Arts Council\, and Canada Council for the Arts\, and is directed by filmmaker Ryan Steel.

DESCRIPTION:Tales from the Hill is presented by the Guelph Guild of Storytellers and features a guest teller in addition to Guild tellers. The evening includes hot cider\, light refreshments\, and conversation.
