DESCRIPTION:Bandology’s annual Band Camp is a week-long day camp for keen music students in grades 7-12 who want to improve their musical skills in the summer. \nLed by some of the best conductors\, clinicians and music teachers in southern Ontario\, teenage campers  at Band Camp enjoy using top-notch music facilities to participate in warm-ups and chorales\, break-out into sectionals and small groups\, and rehearse as a full concert band. There’s also lots of fun with games\, camp projects and team-building activities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt the end of the week\, campers have a final day pizza party while preparing for a free mini-concert for parents and friends. \nBand Camp Junior is a week-long day camp for kids in grades 2-6 who want to explore their love of music through games and demonstrations with new friends. \nAt Band Camp Junior\, kids have fun with hands-on introductory workshops with some cool instruments and experience a wide variety of music styles. Led by keen musicians and educators\, campers enjoy participating a wide variety of musical activities\, from bucket drumming to body percussion to music theory and everything in between. \nCampers will try out different types of instruments alongside dedicated music mentors. There’s also typical camp games\, projects and team-building activities. At the end of the week\, campers take part our end-of-week free mini-concert for parents and friends.

They will introduce us to the varied and powerful tunes by iconic jazz violinists Jean-Luc Ponty\, Didier Lockwood\, Zbigniew Seifert and Adam Baldych. Spend an evening at the Jazz Room going on this musical journey with Kaplanek as he brings the high-powered jazz-fusion vibe that suits his violin playing so perfectly. \nFor the “warm-up” act\, Mr. Kaplanek is joined by pianist Ken Gee in Ravel’s Sonata no. 1 for violin and piano\, opus posthumous.

DESCRIPTION:The Guelph Enabling Garden and the Guelph Guild of Storytellers is delighted to announce that Tea ‘n’ Tales is back to the Guelph Enabling Garden located within Riverside Park for the summer of 2024 for its 16th season\, and it’s bigger and better than ever! Beginning on June 14 and continuing every Friday until September 13\, the fourteen Friday morning performances will feature many of the tellers from previous years\, along with some new faces and their stories. Each hour-long performance begins at 10:30 a.m. These tellers come to Guelph from across Southern Ontario\, From Oshawa to St Thomas\, from Elora to Hamilton. One teller comes annually from Wisconsin\, USA. There shall also be a Canada Day performance\, on Saturday\, July 1\, with James Gordon Brian Holstein and Larry Gibbs. The tellers and their stories\, along with the music of violinist Bridget Walsh\, would be a great way to kick off the Rotary celebrations in the park. It should be noted that on Canada Day and on the four Family Saturdays\, there is a possible appearance by Robert Munsch Then there will be four more Saturday family-themed sessions\, “Under the Magic Ash”. Each of these will feature a variety of different tellers\, musicians and puppeteers.\nWhile all 19 performances commence at 10:30 a.m.\, there shall be prelude entertainment from 10:00\na.m. for all of the events. Amongst those already committed to play is the beloved violinist Bridget\nWalsh\, an A Capella group\, a jazz trio\, The Celtic band Shepherd’s Knot\, and the Silver Strummers.\nAudience members are advised to arrive early\, to secure a good spot and enjoy the music. A folding\nlawn chair is a necessity. A mug will also be needed for a free Planet Bean coffee or an Iced Tea. Proclaimed “a phenomenon” by the Los Angeles Times and “one of the best pianists of his generation” by the Philadelphia Inquirer\, Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished concert pianist\, improviser and composer. Mr. Goodyear has performed with and has been commissioned by many of the major orchestras and chamber music organizations worldwide. Stewart Goodyear performs an all-Gershwin concert\, including the solo version of Rhapsody in Blue (in celebration of the 100th anniversary of this famous showpiece). This is part of PIANO DUO series with Sheng Cai playing Rachmaninov\, Beethoven\, Chopin and Morawetz on May 31\, available at a special price.

Our work is inspired by Dan’s genderqueer voice and performance history; by early-music sources which suggest new and fabulous possibilities for love and community; and by Luke’s trans-mystical poetry\, in which masculine\, feminine\, and non-binary voices often speak as multiple aspects of a single person. Working together\, we create and commission new works of text and music that are in conversation with early sources and soundworlds. We put these works up on their feet in novel performance contexts (workshops\, teach-ins\, touring programs …). We collaborate with other artists whose worlds of sound and spirit enrich our own.

DESCRIPTION:Guelph Musicfest 2024 presents virtuoso pianist Sheng Cai. Recently described as “having the inner passion paired with Rubinstein’s nonchalance” by Thüringer Allgemeine in Germany\, Canadian pianist Sheng Cai has embraced the keyboard tradition\, which epitomizes the greatness of the romantic virtuoso. His performances of major keyboard works of the past centuries have touched audiences and won the praise of critics on four continents. He was featured in the Season Opening Concert of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra with a brilliant performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no. 2. Sheng Cai returns to Guelph Musicfest with a solo recital featuring music by Rachmaninov plus Beethoven\, Chopin and Morawetz. This is part of PIANO DUO series with Stewart Goodyear playing all-Gershwin on June 7\, available at a special price.
