Sadie Fields lives in Brussels\, Belgium\, and has a stellar career in Europe\, performing in top-drawer ensembles and recently became the new principal violinist of the famed Edinburgh String Quartet. Paul Pulford lives in Long Reach\, New Brunswick\, but his previous musical roots include many years as cellist of the renowned Penderecki Quartet based at Laurier University\, where he taught\, conducted\, and was chair of the music department. All of this was in addition to solo performances\, fondness for contemporary music\, and many CD recordings. Ken is the founder and artistic director of Guelph Musicfest. DESCRIPTION:The cultural touchstone that is THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) was born when three inspired\, charismatic comics\, having honed their pass-the-hat act at Renaissance fairs\, premiered their preposterous masterwork at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. It quickly became a worldwide phenomenon\, earning the title of London’s longest-running comedy after a decade at the Criterion Theatre. THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) is one of the world’s most frequently produced plays and has been translated into several dozen languages. Featured are all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays\, meant to be performed in 97 minutes\, by three actors. Fast paced\, witty\, and physical\, it’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike. The original version was followed by the 2010 REVISED version\, and this latest REVISED AGAIN version includes changes that celebrate and encourage greater diversity and inclusivity in today’s theater! \n

DESCRIPTION:ANIMA Early Music is thrilled to present The Sign of Jonas; An Apocalypse Folktale\, with texts by Luke Hathaway & music by Benton Roark. This (55-minute) work will be performed by Mother Country\, a beautiful roots music ensemble led by Benton Roark (voice\, banjo\, guitar & piano) and featuring Andrew Ivens (voice\, mandolin\, guitar\, piano & lap steel)\, Phil Albert (voice & bass) & Chris Hull (percussion). Mother Country will be joined by ANIMA’s artist co-directors\, Daniel Cabena (voice & fiddle) & Luke Hathaway (spoken word). \nHere are a few notes about this work from composer Benton Roark: \nSparse in construction\, timeless in imagery\, arcane in meaning\, and proto-mythical in characters and narrative\, The Sign of Jonas superimposes personal apocalypse on environmental and cultural collapse. It imagines a song cycle lost and found: a musical manuscript orphaned by the cataclysms of the 21st century\, and rewakened to ritual life far in the future. The fragmentary text speaks of travelling\, of death and rebirth\, of decay and regeneration; the music is a ritualized series of part songs\, responsorials\, chants\, chorales\, and incantations\, performed as a folk-music-pageant-mystery-play\, complete with communal singing and other forms of audience participation. When our lives end\, they continue in one another.

DESCRIPTION:Music at the Hall is proud to present Guelph’s Eclectic Vinyl Orchestra on Saturday\, March 1 at 7:30 pm at the Eden Mills Community Hall. EVO is a high energy dance band playing music from the 30s\, 40s\, 50s\, and 60s.  Doors open at 7 pm. \nSince 2015 the infectious power of this four-piece orchestra has been moving crowds with their upright bass\, glittering saxophones\, tight harmonies\, polished spats\, and crisp button-downs. \nThese guys play Etta James\, Ray Charles\, Little Richard\, and Laverne Baker. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a spooktacular evening of circus performance!\nSee high-flying aerial acts\, jaw-dropping acrobatics\, sensational fire performance and delightful characters at this all-ages\, family-friendly show. \nFeaturing the talents of local circus artists from Guelph\, Kitchener-Waterloo and other Ontario regions\, this very special evening of entertainment will take place outside in the unique and wonderfully creepy setting of Guelph’s historic Goldie Mill ruins. \nDon’t miss this one-of-a-kind local Hallowe’en circus experience! Please dress accordingly for sitting outdoors. Chairs will be provided for all patrons. \nThere is free street parking along Cardigan Street\, a short walk to Goldie Mill\, as well as a parking lot at the Guelph Youth Music Centre. \nAccessibility: The Goldie Mill is located along an asphalt trail. The entrance is ground-level and is wheel-chair accessible. There are no steps or stairs. Space for wheelchairs is available in the venue. \nWashrooms: The closest available public washroom is a portable restroom in Herb Markle Park (on the trail at Marcon/Cardigan Street)\, about a 5-minute walk from Goldie Mill. Please note this restroom is not accessible. The public washrooms adjacent to the ruins are currently closed. Please plan accordingly\, especially if you’re accompanying children.
