DESCRIPTION:Members of Guelph Symphony Orchestra present family-friendly performances of Why the Sun and Moon Live in the Sky at River Run Centre on March 25 \nGUELPH\, ON February 28\, 2023 – Symphonic sounds bring a classic African folktale to life when members of Guelph Symphony Orchestra perform Why the Sun and Moon Live in the Sky at River Run Centre on Saturday\, March 25 at 9:30 a.m.\, 10:30 a.m.\, and 11:30 a.m. The Studio Theatre performances are presented as part of Park Eatery Kinderconcerts\, bringing the symphony to life for kids through fun-filled\, interactive performances. \nIn the title story\, the Sun grows tired of having to cross a bridge to visit his friend\, Water\, but Moon’s wedding invitation soon changes everything! This musical adaptation of Why the Sun and Moon Live in the Sky features composition by Florence Price\, the first African American woman to compose a symphony staged by a major orchestra. \nPark Eatery Kinderconcerts feature members of Guelph Symphony Orchestra sharing stories and works by great composers\, introducing children aged five and under to a rich variety of sounds and instruments. DESCRIPTION:Four-time JUNO Award nominees take the stage on Friday\, March 31 \nGUELPH\, ON March 9\, 2023 – Canadian-American hard-rock heroes Big Wreck promise a powerful performance at River Run Centre on Friday\, March 31 at 8 p.m. This Main Stage event is part of the Sleeman Music Series\, featuring some of Canada’s most legendary musical acts. \nBig Wreck singer and guitarist Ian Thornley – along with bassist Dave McMillan\, guitarist Chris Caddell\, and drummer Sekou Lumumba – continue to deliver hard-rock hits without missing a beat. They continue thrilling longtime fans and winning new ones with outstanding live performances. \n“Everything is still going right for rejuvenated rockers Big Wreck\,” Kawartha Now says of the band. \nFour-time JUNO Award nominees\, Big Wreck first emerged on the North American music scene in 1997\, making an impact with their multi-platinum debut album\, In Loving Memory Of…\, featuring the hit singles “The Oaf\,” “That Song\,” and “Blown Wide Open.” In 2001\, their second album\, “The Pleasure and the Greed\,” debuted in the Top 10 in Canada. \nIn 2012\, Big Wreck returned and has since released several well-received recordings including Albatross (2012)\, Ghosts (2014)\, Grace Street (2017)\, and But for the Sun (2019).
