Well known to Canadian comedy fans\, Wright has performed as part of Just For Laughs\, CBC\, and CTV televised comedy galas. His many credits also include serving as a writer for six seasons of CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes\, earning a Canadian Screen Award nomination for his work. \nCarmen Lynch – Comedian\, actress\, and writer Carmen Lynch is well known for appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon\, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\, Inside Amy Schumer\, and Last Comic Standing. Lynch is a regular at The Comedy Cellar in New York City and her 2017 recording\, Dance Like You Don’t Need the Money\, was named Comedy Album of the Year by Sirius XM. \nCassie Cao – Canadian Comedy Award winner Cassie Cao’s standup has been featured on CBC Gem’s The New Wave of Standup\, Crave’s The Standup Show with Jon Dore\, and two seasons of Roast Battle Canada. Featuring Belinda Corpuz\, Ben Page\, Jake Schindler\, and Sam Boer\, this upcoming run of concerts will foreground the distinctive\, folky songs of the show while relaying the fabricated folk tale of a restless young woman\, an anxious bear\, and the star-crossed friendships they forge. \nThis 80-minute musical\, which was praised by The Guardian as a “winning\, foot-tapping account of grizzly adolescence” and The WholeNote for its “freshness\, youthful energy\, and experimental daring\,” premiered at the Toronto Fringe NextStage Festival; had a limited run at the Kingston Grand Theatre; and was performed at a variety of venues\, from the Bancroft Village Playhouse to Bon Echo Provincial Park\, as the first show selected for Tweed & Co.’s site-specific theatre program. \nEach show starts at 8pm\, with doors opening at 7:30pm. DESCRIPTION:The Pay it Forward Arts Fund (PIFAF) is a gift of artist Barbara Salsberg Mathews and her husband Bruce Mathews. The award helps local artists\, in any discipline\, fund art projects that “pay it forward” and benefit the community. \nThe PIFAF takes many forms by using the arts to heal\, give a hand-up\, help build self-esteem\, beautify our environment\, or enrich and improve others’ lives. It was designed to encourage artists to rise to the challenge and “pay it forward” by using their talents to help others and the Guelph community. The PIFAF runs for a total of four years. Art Not Shame will administer the fund with the goal of amplifying local community-engaged arts projects. \nWho is Eligible \nAny artist (or group of artists) age 18 or over\, working in Guelph and is a permanent citizen of Canada or persons upon whom refugee protection has been conferred\, and who are legally entitled to work in Ontario. They are invited to submit proposals for creative projects that pay it forward and benefit the community. A preference may be given to those who demonstrate a long-standing connection to the Guelph community. All artistic mediums are welcome to apply. \nWhat is Eligible \nGuelph-Wellington area artists are invited to submit proposals for creative projects that focus on improving lives and thereby enriching our community. The award could take many forms by using the arts to heal\, give a hand-up\, help build self-esteem\, beautify our environment\, or enrich and improve others’ lives. \nThese projects must be original in nature (this fund does not support events\, projects or programs that have already been established) and cannot have begun prior to the award being granted. The project should be able to be completed within the funding requested. \nAmount of Award \nThis grant will fund one or more projects of up to $6\,000.
