DESCRIPTION:Drop in on our weekly Wednesday workshops!\nOur ‘In the Neighbourhood’ workshops are a great opportunity to learn about and practice improv right here in our own backyard! Literally! The good ol’ backyard is where we started teaching our classes and it’s where we like to practice improv in the summers. It is located in the area of the Victoria Rd and York Rd intersection in Guelph. \nIn these workshops we’ll use discussions\, exercises and scenework to play with this wonderful artform of improv theatre. \nThe Fun & Fundamentals workshops are for all experience levels. If you’ve never tried improv\, this is your chance to dip a toe (or cannonball). If you’re a seasoned pro\, you know much fun and helpful it is to meet new players and groups with different styles. With many decades of performing and teaching experience between them (and within some alone) the Friendly Heretics are eager to lead you and learn with you. \nWe reserve the backyard address for confirmed attendants. SUMMARY:Oliver!
DESCRIPTION:Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on the Charles Dickens novel\, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. \nThe streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver\, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse\, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit\, the benevolent victim\, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout\, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back\, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.
