DESCRIPTION:Calling makers of all ages and stages! Join us at the Art Gallery of Guelph for an afternoon of creative activity using the simplest of materials: paper\, glue\, and scissors. Projects are inspired by the artwork currently on view by artist Justin Favela who uses everyday materials to ingeniously to “make something out of nothing\,” as he describes it\, producing his distinctive mash-ups of traditional and popular culture. Drop in between 1 – 5 pm for as long as you like to make creative curios and magnificent masterpieces to take home\, and contribute to collective community cut paper banners (papel picado) and murals that will be displayed at the gallery. Learn more about traditional and contemporary paper art practices from Latin America during Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month\, an opportunity to recognize the cultures and contributions of these communities that have indelibly enriched our collective experiences. \nThe AGG Make-a-thon is ideal for everyone\, from beginners and families to established artists. All materials are provided; no experience necessary. Participants 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult for supervision and support. Bring your curiosity and explore your creative inspiration!

I’ll share information on design inspiration\, favourite artists\, and discuss some quilting highs and\nlows along my journey. Working in a range of mediums\, Paige explores the landscape in the age of digital media. DESCRIPTION:Join the AGG Volunteer Association on October 24 at 2 pm at the Art Gallery of Guelph for a talk by Janice Mason Steeves\, a Saskatchewan-born artist and former clinical psychologist whose career has spanned international artist residencies and gallery representation. Janice will discuss how a transformative dream during an artist residency in Sweden inspired her book\, Bloom: On Becoming an Artist Later in Life. \nJanice will share her journey of becoming an artist and explore how creativity can flourish as we age. Her book combines personal anecdotes with the stories of 138 artists\, offering a fresh perspective on how art and aging can positively intersect. Discover how older artists can leverage their experiences and embrace creativity to renew their sense of purpose and joy. \nNo registration required; all are welcome. Attendees will also have the chance to purchase an autographed copy of Bloom.
