DESCRIPTION:Online class\, live via Zoom\nThursday\, February 6\, 2025\n6:30 to 8:30 pm EDT\nAges 16+\nRating: Beginner to advanced \nNature is the most amazing artist; if we take the time to look closely\, we discover complex designs and colour combinations\, shifting shapes\, or movement in the landscape. This class is perfect for the photographer looking for inspiration and fresh ideas. We’ll look at new ways to photograph abstract patterns\, create impressionist effects and study compositional techniques\, using both in-camera settings and  post-processing options. \nTaught live via Zoom\, students have the opportunity to ask questions through out the class\, and will have access to the class recording for one month.  The course link will be sent via email two days before the class begins. \nFee:  $75.00 + HST.

SUMMARY:The Years Of Which I’ve Spoken to you- 10C Gallery
DESCRIPTION:“The Years in which I’ve spoken to you”  is the visual amalgamation of a wordless conversation. A dialogue with creativity itself in which the artist separates themselves and acts as a channel to be spoken through. The works in this series speak to the subtle and constant tension within the human form tirelessly contending with unseen guides\, picking and prying your internal compass. \n As defined by writer Paulo Coelho “Everything is written in the soul of the world and there it will stay forever.” Gabbi’s work in turn seeks to be in dialogue with the soul of the world\, the infinite well of knowledge\, through the language of intuition. She depicts both the cautionary tail of a false prophet\, and the knowledge the soul of the world affords those who will listen. Ultimately the trinity of human choice\, divinity and evil are on display through these large scale paintings of the female form intertwined with nature. \nLocation: 10c (42 Carden)\nReception date: Feb 22 from 6:30-8:30pm\nShow date: Feb 1-28

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a unique\, intimate evening with local legends\, SHEBAD\, at Otherwise Studios for another live performance life drawing event! \nThis event will give you a behind-the-scenes peak at what a SHEBAD rehearsal looks and sounds like\, while learning how to draw a moving figure. \nThe rehearsal format and drawing class are carefully curated together to create an enjoyable art & music experience that match each other’s energy. There will be guided demos every step of the way\, teaching techniques to draw and problem-solve quickly\, lean into intuition\, and capture moving shape\, form\, and light. \nJoin us for this rare\, stripped back rehearsal setting and artistic event. Come to draw\, or just enjoy the sweet sounds of the band. This event has a sliding scale ticket system\, please pay what you can and support local artists! \nAll materials will be supplied\, no experience necessary. Participants are welcome to bring their own materials if they wish. There will be both seated and standing options. Whether you plan to draw or just come and listen\, we welcome you into this evening of good vibes and great music. \nAbout the band\nSHEBAD is the creative spirit of visual artist and vocalist Claire Voy and multi-instrumentalist Ciccio Spagnolo. This Guelph-based music project plays on the exploratory realm of Indie Soul\, characterized by jazz-influenced melodies\, danceable basslines\, and Claire’s transcendent voice. Their sound is a synthesis of influences like Stevie Wonder\, Hiatus Kaiyote\, Amy Winehouse\, Daft Punk\, and Erykah Badu\, making the music compelling and curious with lyrics from the heart. CBC’s Laila Biali aptly describes their sound as “Music that exists in a sonic world of its own”.

How about night photography? This full-day workshop will show you how to use the manual exposure mode to make creative choices that the auto settings won’t allow. We’ll build on the skills learned in my Introductory Photo Skills class and explore the advanced features of your camera\, including manual exposures\, the RAW file and advanced metering techniques for difficult or low lighting conditions. Suitable for DSLR cameras or advanced mirrorless cameras that offer manual controls. We will be shooting in class\, so bring your camera with lots of memory card space and a fully charged battery. \nFee: $175.00 + HST.
