SUMMARY:Intro to Blender 3D
DESCRIPTION:Be introduced to Blender 3D which is a powerful open source software for 3D modeling and animation. This workshop will provide an overview of how to create and import models\, animate them within a scene\, apply textures and materials\, and render for distribution. By the end of the workshop\, participants will have created a short animation ready to share for socials. This workshop will be beneficial to any artist who is interested in exploring experimental and expanded practices in animation\, new media\, and digital painting. \nTwo part workshop!\nTuesday\, August 17th 6-7:30pm EST and Tuesday\, August 24th\, 6-7:30pm EST. Working with femme fatale mystical\, subversive and empowering allegories\, Escobar’s work is concerned with the power of images\, technology and the degree to which identities are shaped by consumer capitalist culture and mass media sensationalism. Their multifaceted narratives and talents include a variety of iconic alter egos and media outlets that aid their exploration of gender\, entertainment and satire.

SUMMARY:Tending the Branches: Community Building Through Poetry
DESCRIPTION:This last session in the series is called Tending the Branches: Community Building Through Poetry:  \nAbout the lead facilitator: Kai Cheng Thom\, is a writer\, performer\, wicked witch and lasagna lover who was born on unceded Coast Salish territory in Vancouver and currently makes her home in Toronto\, the Dish With One Spoon treaty territory. She has been a featured performer and workshop facilitator at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word and Verses International Poetry Festival\, among others. Her debut collection of poetry a place called No Homeland was a Lambda Literary Award Finalist. She is also the author of a novel\, Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars\, and a children’s book\, From the Stars in the Sky to the Fish in the Sea. \nCost: $15 per session. $50 for all five. If cost presents a barrier\, please email info@guelphspokenword.com. \n**Due to grant funding to support accessible programming during the pandemic\, this workshop is highly subsidized for participants.
