SUMMARY:Community Fabric
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS COMMUNITY FABRIC?\nPresented by Art Not Shame\, the Community Fabric project is a free\, ten-week community-arts series in which participants work together to create a community quilt\, while building social connections and developing skills to support their mental health and wellbeing. Each week the quilt will grow as community members explore mark-making through textiles as local artist facilitators guide them through teachings around appliqué\, embroidery\, hand-sewing\, printmaking\, and quilting. In collaboration with the Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition and the Guelph Civic Museum\, participants will co-create a quilt that shares stories and experiences from neighbourhood groups across the City of Guelph. The quilt will be housed in Art Not Shame’s new community arts hub\, as a representation of the community members who will use the space and a physical symbol of inclusivity. The quilt will also be included in an exhibition at the Guelph Civic Museum in the Fall of 2024. \nNo experience necessary. This program is open to folks of all ages (children are welcome with their grown-up)! \nAll spaces are all ground floor and are physically accessible. All locations have accessible washroom facilities. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided and are encouraged! \nYou can register for as many sessions as you’d like. The project will travel to the locations listed below. DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Mary-Lynn Jones \nLearn the fundamentals of Adobe Animate\, a versatile animation software. \nThis virtual series will cover key topics\, including setting up projects\, mastering drawing tools\, creating animations using symbols and the timeline\, integrating audio\, working with text and images\, and the intricacies of exporting animations. Participants will have hands-on opportunities with guided exercises and will conclude by sharing their work\, receiving feedback\, and learning about next steps in their Adobe Animate journey. This workshop is designed to provide a solid foundation for beginners to kickstart their animation skills and is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in this creative field. \nMary-Lynn Jones is a talented\, highly motivated\, creative\, and versatile graphic designer and illustrator. With expertise in social media\, animation\, and motion interactive videos\, she brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to her work. With over two years of experience as a creative UI designer\, Mary-Lynn has a keen understanding of incorporating client preferences into superior design solutions. \nParticipants will need a laptop with Adobe Adobe Animate. DESCRIPTION:Using a mix of lecture\, demonstration and hands-on learning experience\, this session will introduce participants to key concepts needed to properly operate a camera for the purposes of capturing video. This workshop will provide information that can be used in the operation of almost any modern video camera or video-capable still camera/device. Highly recommended for anyone who is starting out in video. This is a good primer for those who want to get serious about video\, but will also be helpful for hobbyists. Participants are welcome and encouraged to bring their own camera if they have one. \nTopics include:\n•Types of cameras and the qualities of each\n•The effect of frame rates\n•Aperture\, Shutter Speed\, ISO and Gain\n•Colour Temperature/White Balance and how it affects your image\n•Resolution: HD vs 4K\, and what it actually means\n•Codec basics (H.264 vs MOV\, etc)\n•Camera audio basics\n•Setup Demonstration
