Reception for Hilary Hung: Amorphous
Hilary Hung: Amorphous explores the materiality of edible rice paper. The sculptures in this exhibition are formed with gravity through a process of material negotiation between the artist's hand and the inherent physically properties of rice paper. While each sculpture is hollow in form, it holds a material memory of the body’s labour and the tools used. As an installation, the sculptural forms define space but do not fill it, acting as floating extensions of the gallery architecture. The exhibition surveys 2 years of material research on edible rice paper and the possibilities for material manipulation in this ongoing project. Meet the artist at the Opening Reception on Friday April 26th 7-9pm.
