Young Helen Keller, who has been blind, deaf, and mute since infancy, is trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate. Frustrated, lonely, and violent, Helen is in danger of being sent to an institution. In desperation, her parents seek help from the Perkins Institute, which sends them Annie Sullivan to tutor their volatile daughter. Annie soon realizes there is a mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from the dark ... but will she be able to teach her troubled student to communicate and bring her into the world at last? Journey from darkness to light as this powerful saga of perseverance comes to life on stage. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

Doors Open Guelph

Take a peek behind closed doors!

Doors Open Guelph is a day-long celebration of Guelph's finest buildings, creative spaces, and artistically or architecturally relevant sites, organized by Guelph Arts Council with support from the City of Guelph and a steering committee.

Our community has the distinction of hosting the kick-off event for Doors Open Ontario, opening the province-wide season of Doors Open events.

This is a free community event for all ages and no tickets or registration are required. The hours are 10 – 4, and you can begin at any featured site and visit as many as you like, in any order.

Visitors will be led in small groups through the sites by a tour guide who will tell the site's story. Some sites will feature activities and music. There may be line-ups at popular sites, and the last tour typically runs around 3:40pm to allow the site to close at 4pm.

This year incorporates special activities including guided art walks, dramatic storytelling at Gow's Bridge, a bike tour, rest stop and info hub.
