Andrew Buszchak: Counterproductive Work Behaviour Exhibition
Andrew Buszchak makes sculpture using carbon steel, lumber, and other materials common to the construction trades. Drawing inspiration from experiences as both a general labourer and journeyman welder, he is particularly interested in materials and their associated joining methods. With this body of work, Buszchak looks to draw attention to the implicit hierarchy between “parent” material and the method for fastening – often taken for granted as a means to an end. The exhibition represents the culmination of two years of focused work in the University of Guelph’s Master of Fine Arts program and is presented in conjunction with the School of Fine Art and Music (SOFAM).
