Bridging Practices in Accessibility, Art, and Communications Experience sound and vibration technologies through art installations by David Bobier, Lindsay Fisher, Marla Hlady, Ellen Moffat, Gordon Monahan, Alison O’Daniel, and Lynx Sainte-Marie. By making sound tangible through touch, this exhibition aims to change public perceptions of difference and disability. Presented in partnership with VibraFusionLab, an innovative centre for vibrotactile research and creative practice based in London, Ontario.

Into the Light: Eugenics and Education in Southern Ontario Into the Light examines local histories and ongoing legacies of racial “betterment” thinking in Southern Ontario that de-humanized and disappeared those who did not fit the normative middle-class lives of white, able-bodied settlers. Into the Light is co-curated by Mona Stonefish, Peter Park, Dolleen Tisawii’ashii Manning, Evadne Kelly, Seika Boye and Sky Stonefish. This exhibition of artistic, sensory, and material expressions of memory aims to bring one of Guelph’s dark secrets, as well as stories of survival, out of the shadows and into the light. Into the Light: Eugenics and Education in Southern Ontario is co-presented by Guelph Museums and Bodies in Translation: Activist Art, Technology and Access to Life at Re•Vision: The Centre for Art and Social Justice, University of Guelph.

Elora Fergus Studio Tour

This year, 36 artists in Fergus, Elora and the surrounding rural area open their studios and showcase their work to the public - painters, sculptors, glass artists, jewellers, potters, fabric artists, metalworkers, mixed media artists and more.

The studio tour runs Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 5-6 with studios open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Opening Reception is on Sept 19 between 7 and 9 PM at the Elra Centre for the Arts in Elora

Shape of Dance: An exhibition by Jerre Davidson A behind-the-scenes look at how technology influences the artistic process: ‘Shape of Dance’ explores dance movements as 3 dimensional sculptures and demonstrates how the use of new technology in conjunction with old techniques can enhance the creation of contemporary sculptural work.  The exhibition includes models and documentation of the creative and technical journey involved in this project, in virtual-reality through a cutting edge Free-Dome multi-projector display installation in partnership with local technology expert Gord Harris.

Art Gazing in the Great Outdoors A virtual outdoor experience that inspires us to find creativity in nature and explore.Engage you senses with this interactive virtual reality outdoor experience in the gallery! You will feel like you are in a campsite in the wilderness under a starry sky. You will smell the pine of the forest around you and hear the calls of nature. Inside the “tent” (virtual reality dome) you will learn about famous artists who have been inspired by the great outdoors. Try out our prototype interactive station, or add your own brush stroke to our massive community wall mural in the style of AJ Casson (Group of Seven artist who was inspired by our country’s wilderness).
