Rocky: The Musical at Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge Roll with the punches as the cult classic Academy Award®-winning film Rocky becomes a triumphant new musical. Rocky: The Musical is the heart-pounding story of struggling small-time boxer Rocky Balboa, who gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to fight against heavyweight champ Apollo Creed in South Philadelphia. Determined to fight 15 rounds to the bitter end, Rocky begins a punishing training regimen under the guidance of the local gym owner, Mickey. Fueled further by his unexpected romance with Adrian, the shy little sister of his best friend Paulie, this underestimated underdog suddenly feels like he’s got something – and someone – worth fighting for. Can he go the distance if he fights from the heart? Featuring the famous Rocky theme song and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” this adrenaline-fueled knockout musical about unwavering determination in the face of adversity will have you rooting for romance and cheering for the underdog. Banjofest Guelph 2019! BANJOFEST http://www.banjofest.ca is an annual Guelph Music Festival featuring an eclectic line-up of banjo suffused music. The next festival takes place March 8-10th. 2019 at Silence Sounds, 46 Essex St., Guelph and will feature 10 acts over 3 days. The styles of banjo music represented run the gamut, from bluegrass and old-time through African Kora (an ancestor of the modern banjo) and western swing ("cowbilly") to banjo backed singer-songwriters and Jugband Canadiana! The Miracle Worker at St. Jacobs Country Playhouse Based on the extraordinary true story of Helen Keller and her determined teacher Annie Sullivan, this inspiring Tony Award®-winning play has moved generations of theatregoers and become a world-renowned classic. Young Helen Keller, who has been blind, deaf, and mute since infancy, is trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate. RCMPI Presents Sweeney Todd An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun! This show contains violence and mature themes, and may not be suitable for children.
