We will have public sew days on the following dates: \n\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, September 25 from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, November 13 from 10 am to 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, January 15 from 10 am to 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, March 11 from 10 am to 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n\nThe Legion is located at 57 Watson Parkway South in Guelph. It is wheelchair-accessible and is served by Guelph Transit.\n\n\n\nWHO CAN PARTICIPATE?\n\n\n\n\nWe welcome participation from anyone interested in supporting this cause. Of course\, we welcome experienced sewists and quilters (including longarm\, mid-arm and domestic machines). We also welcome participation from anyone willing to help organize the day by registering participants\, tracking kits\, using an iron and ironing board\, and other miscellaneous tasks.  If you would like to help\, we will do our best to find a meaningful job for you to do! \n\n\n\n\nWE WILL SUPPLY:\n\n\n\n\n\nBlock kits that include fabric and instructions to make a variety of 9-inch quilt blocks requiring basic to intermediate skills. \n\n\n\n\nQuilt kits that include fabric and instructions to make a variety of appropriately-sized quilt tops. Some kits are suitable for those with basic skills and others are more challenging.\n\n\n\n\nBatting and backing fabric to turn a completed top into a finished quilt. \n\n\n\n\nA social day of sewing fun with other enthusiasts\n\n\n\n\n\nPLEASE BRING:\n\n\n\n\n\nSewing machine in good working order and basic sewing supplies \n\n\n\n\nNeutral threads\, light and dark\n\n\n\n\nYour own lunch\, snacks\, and drinks you will want throughout the day. We will have a fridge for you to store your lunch. \n\n\n\n\nOptional: Iron and/or ironing board \n\n\n\n\nOptional: Long extension cord\n\n\n\n\nOptional: Portable design wall if you have one

DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Chris Fast \nThis introductory workshop will teach the building blocks of 3D modelling. Participants will learn the basics of selecting and manipulating vertices\, edges\, and faces\, and will use these fundamental tools to build 4 different models of varied complexity. Participants will also be introduced to and familiarised with the subdivision surface modifier which is a common tool in 3D modelling. While this workshop will be instructed using Blender\, the principles can be applied to any 3D software. \nParticipants will need a laptop\, a scroll-wheel mouse and a free download of Blender. Ed Video has a limited amount of laptops available for members to use during the workshop. DESCRIPTION:The Guelph Book Bash Festival is an annual celebration of the books published by Guelph and area authors over the previous year. The event is presented by Vocamus Writers Community.\n\nThis year\, it will be held on Sunday November 5\, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM\, at the Guelph Farmers’ Market.\n\nOver thirty authors will be in attendance to sell their books\, chat with attendees\, and sign copies. The authors will be joined by many of Guelph’s micro-presses\, bookstores\, libraries\, cultural groups\, and literacy organizations\, all the people who help make up our great local book culture.\n\nThere will also be storytelling and free books for children\, a leave-a-book-take-a-book table\, a book composting demonstration\, food and refreshments for sale\, book prizes\, and other fun!\n\nThere is no cost for the event\, but donations will be accepted for Action Read\, Friends of Vocamus Writers Community’s charitable partner\, which provides literacy programs in the community.

DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Run: October 21\, 2023 – January 20\, 2024\nCurator: Mary Reid \nRon Shuebrook and Frances Thomas have each undertaken a serious engagement with abstraction. Both artists are highly skilled at manipulating paint to highlight wonderful connections between line\, form\, colour and scale. The intent of this exhibition is to highlight the avenues of abstraction unique to each artist\, while finding commonalities and celebrating the differences. \nThis exhibition and accompanying publication were co-produced with the MacLaren Art Centre. It will tour to the MacLaren Art Centre in the summer of 2024 and then onwards to the Art Gallery of Northumberland and the Art Gallery of Algoma in 2025. \nThe Woodstock Art Gallery and MacLaren Art Centre extend their sincere thanks to the Olga Korper Gallery\, the Peter Robertson Gallery\, and all the private individuals who contributed to this important project.

SUMMARY:Creative Podcasting & Community Storytelling Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Karim Mosna \nLocation: CFRU 93.3FM\, U.C. Level 2\, University of Guelph (50 Stone Road East\, Guelph ON) \nFor those that have ever been fascinated by CBC or NPR broadcasts and podcasts\, this will be a special treat! Participants will have the rare opportunity to spend a full day at local campus/community radio station CFRU 93.3 FM\, and make use of the station’s state-of-the-art recording studios to record and produce a 30 minute podcast episode or multiple mini-episodes. \nThere are so many possibilities; a bare bones solo podcast talking about a topic of interest such as: music or film\, a journalistic-style show interviewing a fellow participant\, more advanced documentary storytelling or an audio experience. The next “This American Life\,” “Revisionist History\,” or “WireTap” could come out of this intensive! \nFacilitator Karim Mosna will be on site throughout the day to provide assistance and guidance through the process of recording and post-production. He will also lead an interactive audio editing seminar. The final episodes will be uploaded to Anchor-Spotify For Podcasters which will then distribute the podcast across multiple podcast sites (including: Spotify\, Apple Podcasts\, Google and more). Participants will also have access to CFRU’s Social Media Lab to snap a cover photo for the podcast and promotional reels for social media. \nParticipants will need to come ready to record with any scripts or interview points. They will also need to have created an account with Spotify For Podcasters\, and bring a USB to take their work home with them. \n**Tell Your Story: Intro to Creative Podcasting & Community Storytelling is recommended as a prerequisite to this intensive. \nPlease email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions\, accessibility needs and to register.
