SUMMARY:NEUTRAL- Art Exhibition at N/A Gallery
DESCRIPTION:NEUTRAL by Rylee Rumble\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNeutral explores the juxtaposition of the complimentary colours purple and yellow\, as well as\, blue and orange. I am interested in letting the painting guide itself; exploring different layering techniques that change the viscosity of the medium. I am compelled by the contrasting values\, as for me they evoke a sense of urgency\, yet the neutral feeling still remains. \n\nAbout Rylee Rumble \nA recent grad from the University of Guelph’s Studio Art\, Rylee Rumble is currently an MFA Candidate at Western University. Her practice is deeply rooted in the process and she is currently examining the topic of mental health by exploring colour through a perceptive lens. While Rumble has shown in multiple duo and group shows\, Neutral will be her first solo exhibition.

SUMMARY:Overland\, Underland at the N/A Gallery
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to Overland\, Underland at the N/A Gallery!\nOverland\, Underland is Paige Quinn’s first solo art exhibition with the N/A Gallery downtown Guelph from January 24th to February 7th\, 2022. \nThe N/A Gallery is in the art walkway at 84 Wyndham Street N\, and all artworks are viewable by the street. \nPaige Quinn is a self-taught artist who currently lives and works in Guelph\, ON. Her artworks are inspired by spending large amounts of time outdoors studying the unusual shapes in nature\, as well as the weird and wonderful characters who inhabit her consciousness. Her technical background is in ecology\, which has greatly influenced her practice. She is looking forward to her upcoming artist residency this February at Artscape Gibraltar Point\, Toronto Island. \nPaige Quinn’s paintings draw from personal memories as well as culturally embedded themes of ecological spirituality\, femininity and presence. In her artwork\, Paige has been exploring the idea of reuniting and reconnecting with nature\, either in relationships\, in death\, or in bodily transformation. The figures in her paintings are caught in the act of transformation and spiritual catharsis\, becoming whole again as they connect to the earth and other creatures. They move and blend with their background in a process to become closer spiritually with the unknown. The arches in the artworks allude to the turning of life and how everything that comes from the earth must again return to the earth. Paige’s paintings often draw from her experience tree planting in Northern British Columbia and her background in Ecology. \nwww.paigefitzquinn.com \n@paigefitzquinn

SUMMARY:Arts Everywhere Festival - Thinking Together in the Present
DESCRIPTION:Simon(e) van Saarloos and Matthew Stadler in conversation\nRegister now for this Zoom Webinar \nASL interpretation and automatic captioning available \n\nThinking Together in the Present: an unrehearsed conversation with Dutch-American philosopher\, journalist\, and activist Simon(e) van Saarloos and Matthew Stadler\, the editor of ArtsEverywhere’s Polity of Literature series. Presented in collaboration with PS Guelph. \nThis live event on Zoom marks the launch of Simon(e) van Saarloos’s newest book\, Take ‘Em Down\, a critical investigation of common tactics of historic memorialization\, which poses the question What if we could commemorate everything and everyone\, all at the same time? Among van Saarloos’ provocative recommendations is that statues marking the brutal history of settler colonialism ought to be pulled down—and be left lying in the streets. Van Saarloos does not seek erasure\, nor revision\, but a future that puts the ruinous obstacles history created right at our feet—and in our way—so that we have to engage them collectively while we make our future. This live conversation will also introduce and explore Stadler’s newest iteration of the Polity of Literature series—a publishing platform called “The GOAT PoL” that will connect disenfranchised writers (those who are stateless\, incarcerated\, or children) to readers\, publication\, and agency inside of a living “polity of literature.” \n  \nRegister!
