My work falls easily into the realm of realism, but I constantly wrestle with what I can get away with. How much can I bend reality and still convey a believable image? There are other questions to wrestle with, mostly to do with storytelling, which, since I am a human, is what I concern myself with the most. In this photographic-immersed world, can a painting represent a moment or several moments as opposed to a mere instant? Since a two-dimensional, static image can convey only so much, at what point in the story does an artist drop the audience?
