Mary Karavos is a professional artist who transforms imported Japanese and Nepalese papers into masterful works of art. Piece by piece, layer upon layer the images evolve. No paint is used in her art. Vibrant color and rich texture have become the signature of Mary’s work.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Mary’s formal art training took place at the Ontario College of Art. In her final year, Mary was accepted to study fine art in Florence, Italy. Florence became home for many years; during her time Mary found herself drawn to paper fibre as her medium for her art.
Mary currently resides in Guelph.
