Calling All Art Collectors. Are you Running Out of Wall Space? Consider Donating Art Works to Help Raise Funds for Guelph Arts Council
Guelph Arts Council [GAC] presents The Collector’s Dilemma, an auction of fine art previously owned by local collectors. It is a fun online event to help raise funds for GAC. Save the dates - May 6 to 20.
The Collectors' Dilemma is an exciting fundraising event for the Guelph Arts Council. This auction showcases fine art previously owned by local collectors. All profits go to the Arts Council, helping artists and art institutions make Guelph an enriched place to live and work. Over 100 people attended when this event was held in person and over 60 works sold during the first online auction.
Thanks to the generosity of local art collectors - who’ve run out of wall space or are making room for new treasures - an amazing collection of quality artwork, in a range of media, styles, sizes, and values, will be sold in an on-line auction. Donors get a tax receipt for the full final selling price of the donated artwork. If you or someone you know is a collector of fine art, please consider donating some art for this event. Your donation helps ensure artists continue to thrive and Guelph remains the vital, vibrant city we love.
Artist, Nan Hogg, explains how The Collector’s Dilemma is unique:
“Unlike most fundraising art auctions, we do not ask artists to donate their work. Instead, we ask for donations from art collectors who have purchased the works from their creators. After enjoying the piece for many years, these collectors may need to downsize their collection. Or perhaps they are moving to a smaller home. Or they simply need to free up wall space to add new pieces.”
The Collectors’ Dilemma showcases a large variety of quality artwork of various media, styles, sizes and value. Oil, watercolour, and acrylic paintings and prints by well-known local artists are available.
GAC’s Vice President, Laurel McKellar writes:
“This is such a unique opportunity. It’s always fun to see what art treasures people have in their collections that are just waiting for a new home. To bid successfully on an original piece at a great price, all in support of Guelph Arts Council, is the cherry on top!”
By supporting Collectors’ Dilemma you will help us strengthen arts and culture in Guelph today and in the years to come.
