Two opportunities for artists at Gladstone House: artist residency and instruction
Deadline: December 20, 2021
Gladstone House (formerly Gladstone Hotel) reopened in September 2021 and the newly renovated hotel includes an Art Studio, a space for creativity and interaction. Located on the Studio Level, the Art Studio is a bright, open, 480 square foot room with 2 spaces for resident artists and a 12-seat area for workshops. We’re offering two new opportunities for artists: short term residencies with free use of studio space, and instructing courses and workshops.
Artist residencies
Gladstone House invites applications for short-term (3-4 month) visual art or craft residencies. Residencies are self-directed: the artists work on projects of their own choosing. Work may be tied to a project, including preparation for an exhibition or show/sale, or may be for portfolio/practice development. Term:Residencies are 3-4 months. There is no fee to use the space.
Applications are accepted for 3 or 4 month blocks, beginning December 1, 2021 through to the end of 2022. Blocks can be any continuous 3 or 4 month period to the end of 2022, eg. January 1-March 31, February 1-April 30.

Instructor opportunities
Gladstone House seeks instructors to propose beginner and intermediate art and craft courses and workshops for adults, for day or evening, weekdays or weekends. Courses can be 4 to 8 weeks in duration, 2 to 3 hours per class. Workshops can be 2 to 6 hours. Instruction is in person (with current public health measures: masks indoors, proof of vaccination for instructions and participants).
Courses and workshops will begin in Winter 2022, and will run based on minimum registration numbers.
Instructors will be paid $35-$45 per instructional hour, depending on experience. An additional flat fee may be provided for prep time. Any travel and parking expenses are the responsibility of the instructor.
