Call for photo-based artists, digital media artists and image creators for a (paid) virtual idea exchange between Ireland and Canada.

Submission Deadline: November 9, 2023

Are you an artist who involves, considers, discusses, or rejects virtuality? Do you constantly play a balancing game between what is real and what is virtual? Are you interested in the future of image creation? Let’s talk about it.

As part of a curatorial residency in Dublin, Ireland curator Darren Pottie will be hosting an idea exchange between Irish and Canadian image creators. Artists should be free on Sunday, November 12 or Sunday, November 19 from 9 am – 12 pm EDT (2 pm – 5 pm IST) to present a little bit about their work and their thoughts about image-making, as well as listen to others’ work. Following the presentations, artists can expect a short round table discussion and a chance to chat about what we’ve seen and heard.

Artists will be paid a $150 honorarium for their participation.

As part of your presentation, talk about how the image was created, but also consider how the image will come to exist in the world for exhibition. Maybe it’s on paper, in a book, as a crafted object, on an exhibition screen or behind virtual reality headgear. The round table will place a renewed emphasis on material quality, aesthetic cohesion, craft-based techniques, and 3D space-considered installations.

There is only space for about 10-12 artists. Fill out the brief form to signal your interest in participating.

This project was generously funded by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Thanks for considering!
