Ascent Gallery invites emerging visual artists from Toronto to submit applications to exhibit and sell their work in 2024. Ascent Gallery is a new gallery opening in the fall of 2023 on the lower level of the Etobicoke Civic Centre, dedicated to celebrating and showcasing works by under-represented artists.
Who can apply?
Emerging artists and collectives can submit applications. Emerging artists are defined as artists who have begun to exhibit their work in a public context, having a limited amount of experience in the field but beginning to gain recognition for their artwork through gallery exhibitions, grants, commissions or sales of their work and are at least 18 years of age. This includes artists with an exhibition record of five years or less, artists who have been practicing for five years or less and post-secondary students.
$350.00 +HST, for a full 9 to 10-week exhibition in 2024. There is no fee to apply. Only approved applicants are required to pay the exhibition fee. The gallery takes no commission on sales.

About Ascent Gallery:
In 2023, the Ascent Gallery opened on Level 1 of the Etobicoke Civic Centre’s Central Block. Dedicated to emerging artists, the Ascent Gallery welcomes emerging individual artists and/or artist collectives, with a focus on artists who identify as IBPOC, disabled persons and 2SLGBTQIA+. The gallery is owned and operated by the City of Toronto, Arts Services.
The gallery is a public space, displaying artworks in the halls on the lower floor of the Etobicoke Civic Centre. Wall space is approximately 80 feet.
