The Halton Black History Awareness Society and the Helson Gallery are pleased to present the 2023 Emancipation Art Exhibition, on view from June 21st through August 27th, 2023. This will mark the sixth annual exhibition for the HBHAS and celebrate the work from our multicultural community.
For this year’s annual Emancipation Exhibition, Artists are invited to submit work to be exhibited in both the Helson Gallery and Sisnett Lobby of the Town of Halton Hills Cultural Centre. The show will be a Juried Exhibition with prizes to be awarded to artists that best reflect and articulate the Black Experience.
In lieu of artists fees, $1000 in Jurors awards will be presented at the opening reception June 25th from 2-4pm.
We invite artists in all mediums from across the GTHA to share artwork that represents the theme “Emancipation”. There is no entry fee for this show.
Submission Deadline: May 22, 2023 at 12 pm.
Eligibility: Open to African Diasporic artists from the GTHA & surrounding areas.
Submission Details: Artists may submit up to 6 pieces of creative work in any form made during the past 36-48 months for consideration. Submissions may include work in craft media and can be displayed in lockable showcases in the gallery and lobby.
This is a juried art show, and not all artworks will be selected for display by the jury panel due to space restrictions. We encourage all age groups, skill, and experience levels to apply.
You must be able to drop-off and pick-up your artwork at the Helson Gallery in Halton Hills, Ontario.
