Job Description
Arts Awards Waterloo Region seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and experienced leader to serve as Coordinator to advance the mission of the organization. As Coordinator, the successful candidate will provide operational support to our volunteer Board of Directors and will be responsible for executing the agenda set forth by the Board in order to best serve our stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Coordinator serves as the chief operating officer of Arts Awards Waterloo Region, working closely with and reporting to the Chair and the Board of Directors. The Coordinator directs and administers all programs, operations and policies in addition to working in collaboration with volunteer staff.
Primary areas of responsibility include:
Operational Support – attends meetings of the Board of Directors and Committees to take meeting minutes, provides administrative support, and circulates meeting agenda, minutes, and other communications and information to the Board.
Program Development and Management – develops, implements, and supervises programs and services that are consistent with the organization’s mission and at the direction of the Board of Directors.
Community Relations – develops effective working relationships within the community (both within the arts community and elsewhere) to ensure that the arts are represented in the community-at-large and for the constituency that Arts Awards Waterloo Region serves.
Advocacy – Manages external communications with relevant partners and stakeholders and assists with the marketing and public relations initiatives of the organization; articulates and communicates the value of the arts in improving our quality of life, and promotes community support of the arts and Arts Awards Waterloo Region.
Conducts all business at the highest standard of integrity ensuring that all activities are legal and ethical.
Requirements:
Degree, post-secondary certificate, or 3+ years of related experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of event and office management, coordinating various tasks and projects associated with not-for-profit organizations, administrative support
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Dropbox, social media platforms, email applications; experience with contact databases an asset; excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong interpersonal skills
Additional Info:
Location: Monthly meetings are held virtually with the possibility of in-person gatherings once it is safe to do so. In-person meetings would be held in Kitchener.
Compensation: $26.00 an hour based on an average of 15 hours per month. Remuneration occurs on a monthly basis.
Starting Date: As soon as possible.
