Thank you for your interest in volunteering for #IMPACT21, which runs September 28 to October 9, 2021! This year’s festival will be following a hybrid model – with live-streamed events and a number of shows LIVE and in person (in outdoor venues). That’s where we need you! Below are the volunteer positions we’re looking for:

Ushers
Ushers will be responsible for guiding guests and patrons to and from their seats within the venue (in alignment with IMPACT protocols for physical distancing). Ushers will be working with the Box Office team to ensure that attendees have been checked in and follow COVID-protocols (ie. keep their masks on)

COVID Screeners
Screeners are going to be responsible for screening everyone at the door. Screeners will also work with Ushers to ensure crowd control (ie. physical distancing of those in line, no crowd gatherings).

Greeters/Company Liaison
Greeters are responsible for Artist hospitality. Greeters will work closely with the Hospitality Coordinator to assist artists throughout the festival/shows by answering questions, running errands and other support as needed.

Runners
Runners have cars and are able to run errands (pick-up items, equipment, people) during the festival.

On Call Volunteers
On-call Volunteers are able to step in and provide support when other volunteers cannot undertake their shift, due to emergencies, COVID isolation requirements, etc. You can Volunteer and also agree to be on-call for some additional times to help us be prepared 🙂

Marketing material distributors (August – note this is prior to the festival)
Marketing distributors will help distribute IMPACT marketing materials in Downtown Kitchener, Uptown Waterloo and to select regional community centres this August, to help increase Festival awareness! Lists/directions will be provided by MT Space. It would be helpful for some distributors would have a car, but some distribution can also be done by walking (ie. downtown).

Shifts are generally 2-3 hours, but vary depending on the role and task.

Note on COVID-19: IMPACT is developing a comprehensive safety plan to minimize risk of COVID-19 transmission and help ensure Volunteers, Staff, Artists and Patrons are safe. Masks will be required at all times within Festival venues, for all patrons and Festival personnel. Volunteers (with everyone else) will participate in contact tracing and COVID screening prior to each shift. All live events will take place outdoors and all venue spaces and surfaces will be regularly sanitized. Contact us if you have questions about COVID-19 safety.
