The Streetwise Community Initiative is a two year project funded through Proceeds of Crime and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. It is a collaborative initiative backed by a number of organizations including the City of Guelph, Guelph Police Service, Welcome In Drop In Centre, Guelph Community Health Centre, Wyndham House, Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition, and Toward Common Ground.
This initiative aims to create social recreation and volunteer opportunities for individuals who are homeless and/or street-involved in the hopes of increasing community safety, enhancing the well-being of the participants, and building stronger bonds within the community to encourage acceptance, integration, and mutual respect.
Currently, there is an open art program running every Monday from 11:30am-12:30pm. We are seeking artists to take part in these sessions and guide individuals through different projects! An honorarium will be provided.
If you are interested in collaborating with this project, please contact Carlin Dykstra, Project Coordinator for the Streetwise Community Initiative.
