What: The “GACGAC”. Guelph Arts Council Golden Anniversary Celebration. We turned 50. We want to celebrate with you!
When: Saturday, November 22, 2025, 7pm (programming to begin at 7:30pm)
Where: GAC’s new home in Old Quebec Street Shoppes.
Why should you come: GAC wouldn’t exist without an arts community to serve, so we’d like to celebrate with the people who have inspired us for 50 years. There’s also a chance that GAC has supported you in your Guelph arts life, whether that’s as an organization that got its start with support from GAC many years ago, or as an individual who has shown in our gallery space, received an award, participated in our mentorship program or Art on the Street, or any other things over the past 50 years.
We’re also unveiling the new “Sally Wismer Gallery” that night, named after GAC’s longtime Executive Director, volunteer and friend, so maybe you’d like to come and celebrate that too.
Basically, if you love the arts, you love our community, and you love a chance to gather with friends in the sector, this is the place for you.
We’re calling the event “folk formal”, meaning all are welcome to come as formally (or informally) dressed as they’d like, and the night’s program will feature dance, spoken word/performance arts, and musical performances, video screenings, as well as a chance for attendees to participate in a community craft project (beading) and a community literature project, where they will be encouraged to write down their favourite Guelph arts memories from the past 50 years with the intention of publishing a keepsake book.
Attendees may enjoy beverages from a cash bar and mocktail bar, and snacks will be served.
There will be an in-person 50/50 raffle at the event, and people may also make an optional donation when they RSVP to attend (guelpharts.ca/gacgac), or contribute to GAC’s ongoing donation appeal online by visiting guelpharts.ca/about/donate.
We’re so grateful to all of you who have shaped GAC over the past 50 years, and who will continue to shape us through the next 50. Let’s celebrate together!
