Guelph Dance is seeking women-identifying dancers with a practice in any style of dance to participate in the Body Choir project with Nova Dance. This project is open for ages 16+.
An audition is taking place on Tuesday July 14th, from 7:00 to 10:00 PM in Guelph, ON, exact venue TBA. Those who are interested should fill out this form.
The Body Choir will work with award-winning choreographer Nova Bhattacharya (Nova Dance) for an opening invocation performance that will be presented alongside Nova Dance’s Svāhā! on October 29th at the River Run Centre’s Main Stage.
The Body Choir dancers must be available for the following dates:
Tuesday July 14 – Audition (7pm to 10pm)
Friday Sept 18 – Rehearsal (6pm to 9pm)
Saturday Sept 19 – Rehearsal (10am to 3:30pm)
Friday Sept 25 – Rehearsal (6pm to 9pm)
Saturday Sept 26 – Rehearsal (10am to 3:30pm)
October 28 – Tech rehearsal at theatre (Call time TBA)
October 29 – Show at theatre (Call time TBA, show is at 7:30 PM)
The Body Choir project is an opportunity for local dancers of all forms to learn from professionals, to immerse in the rehearsal process, learn new techniques, cultural practices and to perform on the stage at the River Run Centre prior to the main performance of Svāhā!
Guelph Dance and River Run Centre are co-presenting Svāhā! by Nova Dance on October 29th, 2026 at 7:30 PM. Svāhā! is a celebration of dance as a revitalizing ritual that brings us closer together. It is an offering of movement, music, colours and sensations.
