Facilitated by Hope Thompson

Writing for film requires both a good story and a solid understanding of the craft of screenwriting. During this 3-part introductory online workshop series, we will explore the basic tools required to unlock your short- or feature-length screenplay ideas. Topics covered include loglines, premise, theme, character, structure, dialogue and symbol. Please bring your screenplay ideas to the first class. No experience necessary!

Hope Thompson writes for stage, film and television and her work explores the queer experience through history and genre. She has had plays produced in Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles and her award-winning short films have screened internationally. She wrote on two seasons of CBC’s Baroness Von Sketch Show and is currently co-writing a series with a broadcaster attached. Hope also teaches screenwriting and co-hosts the crime fiction reading series Queer Toronto Noir.
