Join us this Father’s Day for La Reverdie, an afternoon of aerial dance and live music inspired by the renewal of spring. Surrounded by the natural beauty of The Arboretum, this free outdoor event for the whole family invites you to slow down, breathe, and experience the harmony between art and nature. 

Featuring aerial silks and trapeze performances by Britt Howlett and Erika Lui with live harp and vocal music by Shannon Kingsbury.

Between performances, enjoy free guided walking tours led by Arboretum staff. Seasonal treats and refreshments will be available from local food and beverage vendors courtesy of Arrell Food Institute.

Performance Times: 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Duration: Approximately 15 minutes
Location: University of Guelph Arboretum Centre (200 Arboretum Road)
Admission: Free and open to all ages

Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and settle in for a magical afternoon that honours nature, movement and music in one of Guelph’s most beautiful settings.

*Meaning “re-greening” in Old French, “Reverdie” is a medieval genre of song or poetry that celebrates the arrival of spring.

Artist bios:

Britt Howlett is a Guelph, Ontario-based circus artist, aerialist, performer and instructor specializing in dance trapeze, static trapeze, duo trapeze, hand-balancing and static cloud swing. Her creative work seeks to blend the artistry and physical discipline of circus arts to explore and bring to life ideas, themes and characters. She currently teaches trapeze classes through the Guelph Grotto Aerials program. www.britthowlett.ca Instagram: @trapezista7

Shannon Kingsbury is a singer, songwriter, harpist and music educator based in Guelph. Her music dives deep into internal landscapes of dream, archetype and emotion. Shannon’s musical works include two solo albums and composing/directing for Ondine Chorus. www.shannonkingsbury.com

Erika Lui is a Kitchener-based multidisciplinary circus and movement artist, teacher, and neuroscientist. An avid life-long learner, explorer, and storyteller, Erika is passionate about building community, building resiliency, and bringing scientific curiosity and philosophy to life throughout their artistic endeavours. She currently teaches aerial silks classes at Grand River Rocks. www.erikalui.com
