“The Years in which I’ve spoken to you” is the visual amalgamation of a wordless conversation. A dialogue with creativity itself in which the artist separates themselves and acts as a channel to be spoken through. The works in this series speak to the subtle and constant tension within the human form tirelessly contending with unseen guides, picking and prying your internal compass.
As defined by writer Paulo Coelho “Everything is written in the soul of the world and there it will stay forever.” Gabbi’s work in turn seeks to be in dialogue with the soul of the world, the infinite well of knowledge, through the language of intuition. She depicts both the cautionary tail of a false prophet, and the knowledge the soul of the world affords those who will listen. Ultimately the trinity of human choice, divinity and evil are on display through these large scale paintings of the female form intertwined with nature.
